Filming is now underway on Chris Rock and director Darren Lynn Bousman‘s (Saw II-IV). There has now been an unexpected move by Lionsgate, the film, originally set to open in theaters on October 23, 2020, has been moved up to May 2020!
Chris Rock will be playing a police detective investigating a string of gruesome crimes. Get this, Samuel L. Jackson will be playing the role of Rock’s character’s father with Max Minghella (Horns) has been cast as Rock’s partner William Schenk. “Riverdale’s” Marisol Nichols is playing the role of Angie Garza, Rock’s Captain. There is still no word on if Tobin Bell will reprise his role as Jigsaw.

Bousman took the reins from franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell who have and will continue to produce the films. Jigsaw screenwriters Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg penned the script based on an idea by Rock.
The new installment of the Saw franchise will open in theaters on May 15, 2020.
