Now that we over the halfway mark to October, it’s time that Halloween season movie releases and themed subjects are beginning to be announced.
We’ve got the news that Ray Bradbury‘s 1972 fantasy novel The Halloween Tree is currently being adapted for a feature film by Warner. Bros. and that the script is being written by Will Dunn.
The Halloween Tree centers on Tom and his friends who set off to investigate the strange happenings in their small town on Halloween night. With the help of an unlikely ally, a mysterious figure known as Moundshroud, Tom and his friends must journey into the Land of the Dead to rescue their friend Pip from the demon who has abducted him. The group pursues their friend through time and space to times and places, including ancient Egypt, Medieval Paris, and Mexico for the Day of the Dead. Along their journey, they discover the origins of holidays and face supernatural entities as well as ghosts.
This isn’t the first time the novel has been adapted. It was made into a full length animated feature in 1993 which was written and narrated by Bradbury for Hanna-Barbera. It won the 1994 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program, Deadline reports.
