18 months ago pre-production began on the third installment of the Jurassic World franchise, unfortunately, it was delayed like many by the pandemic causing the release to be delayed twice. The big-budget ($165 million) blockbuster not only had dinosaurs and action sequences to deal with, but they also had to spend millions on more than 40,000 COVID tests with the main crew spending months in isolation!
But we have great news today! According to Deadline, Jurassic World: Dominion has now officially wrapped filming at the UK’s Pinewood Studios!
There are a lot of emotions,” director Colin Trevorrow told the site on his way to shoot the movie’s finale, which will include “Jurassic legacy actors Sam Neil, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and newcomers to the movie such as Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise [who we’ve separately heard could have a big role in future instalments]…and some dinosaurs, of course. I’m not sure I can put it into words,” continues Trevorrow. “It has been remarkable. Our crew and our cast has been so resilient. All producers have worked around the clock to make it the best it can be. It has been inspiring.”
Now that filming is done it is time for the special effects to dive in and create the dinosaurs that make the franchise iconic.
The previous installment, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, ended with a cliffhanger as dinosaurs escaped the facility where they were being auctioned off. Dominion will pick up with dinosaurs living among us in our world for the first time.
Jurassic World: Dominion is set to take over theaters on June 10, 2022.
