2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road was a huge hit so it’s no surprise that the franchise is continuing to expand. George Miller is currently working on a spin-off movie that will center on Charlize Theron’s character Furiosa. Today, we can report that the film, simply titled Furiosa, has already scored a release date.
The prequel will star New Mutants actress Anya Taylor-Joy as the young Furiosa. Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Candyman) will also star. Miller is both co-writing the script and will direct for Warner Bros.
Furiosa is set to be released in theaters on June 23, 2023.
