The 1996 blockbuster ‘Independence Day’ saw stars Will Smith, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum fight a battle of epic proportions against a fleet of aliens looking to take over Earth.
‘Independence Day 2′ is now in production. Director Roland Emmerich announced via Twitter that several of the original cast members will be returning for the sequel. Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pulman, Judd Hirsch and Vivica A. Fox will be returning to star along side Jessie Usher (G.I. Joe:Renegades) and ‘The Hunger Games’ actor Liam Hemsworth. At the moment Will Smith is not listed as returning to his role.
Emmerich, who also directed the original ‘Independence Day’ and Producer Dean Delvin are reportedly very excited about the project, which was also written by Dean Delvin and Carter Blanchard. They plan to continue the story in not one sequel, but two. Artwork for Part 1 of the sequel is now beginning to surface and they look great! ‘Independence Day 2 Part 1’ promises to be bigger and better and the aliens a lot badder, just look at the size of that mother ship! Be prepared for the invasion of theaters on June 24, 2016. Part 2 will be released some time in 2017.
