‘The X-Files: Cold Cases’-The Truth Is STILL Out There…In An Audiobook

The X-Files: Cold Cases is a new full-cast audio drama that launched on July 18. Last year, fans were treated to a long awaited return of the hit sci-fi show that had us all looking to the skies. The X-Files returned with 6 new episodes, and while I enjoyed them all, I felt like 6 was just enough to get us all excited again and then leave us hanging. That’s why I was thrilled to learn that Audible was releasing a new audiobook this summer set in the X-Files Universe. It’s not just any audiobook, though. X-Files: Cold Cases is a full cast drama, so you’re getting an entire production, like a modern version of the old time radio shows from the 30s and 40s. Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Olivia Hussey

It’s Wednesday again, my Little Monsters. So as you know, it’s time to start crushing on another wonderful Woman of Horror and this week I’ve picked a real Hussey. Now that isn’t meant to be derogatory or be a form of slut shaming. Not at all, because it just happens to be Olivia’s last name. Olivia Hussey was originally born Olivia Osuna, the first of Joy Hussey and Andreas Osuna’s two children. Her parents divorced while she was only two years of age, and a few years later Olivia moved with her mother and younger brother to London, England. She began her training to become an actress at an early age, studying at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, located in London. At the age of thirteen, Olivia would adopt her mother’s maiden name as she began acting professionally. ‘THE TRANSFIGURATION’ Gets a Release Date

An official selection at the Cannes Film Festival, writer/director Michael O’Shea’s debut feature THE TRANSFIGURATION will be releasing August 8th, 2017. The film “follows troubled teen Milo who hides behind his fascination with vampire lore. When he meets the equally alienated Sophie, the two form a bond that begins to challenge Milo’s dark obsession, blurring his fantasy into reality.” I’m not entirely sure what exactly is being transfigured in the film at this point, but I have yet to see the film myself. I can get behind the idea of a troubled teen whose into horror movies forming a bond with a cute emo girl. Kind of reminds me of my own time in high school. Well minus the cute emo girl part……

Looks like ‘The Belko Experiment’ Is Happening in the Real World

The Belko Experiment might be one of my favorite horror films so far this year, but that doesn’t mean I’d want the events of the film to actually occur. I mean, its a pretty outlandish concept for a film right? What kind of idiot would let their job put a microchip in them. Jowan Osterlund of Biohax with one of the company’s implantable microchips. Three Square Market, a company in Wisconsin, is partnering with Biohax to offer the chips to employees. Well apparently 50 of the 80 employees at Wisconsin based Technology company Three Square Market are willing to let their employer inject a robot in them. ‘Van Helsing’ Reboot Reportedly Has Chosen It’s Star

The “Dark Universe” didn’t exactly get off to a good start with The Mummy, but Universal won’t let the franchise die, with everything from The Wolfman to The Hunchback of Notre Dame getting adaptations. I’d be more shocked than Frankenstein’s Monster if even half these films actually get made, but who knows, I’m no fortune teller. Out of the five or six films slated to come out, the only one I really felt any amount of excitement for was Van Helsing. The whole concept of an international monster hunter is a neat idea, and the 2004 adaptation didn’t really do the concept justice. Well that excitement’s sunk into the Black Lagoon with the announcement that Magic Mike pretty boy Channing Tatum is reportedly up for the role. Best known for being the worst part of The Hateful Eight and being the most meh part of 21 Jump Street, Tatum’s casting shows both that Universal hasn’t learned dick from The Mummy

Blumhouse Will Produce The New ‘Spawn’ Movie

Spawn has had a difficult time making it to the big screen in years past, but with producing powerhouse Blumhouse given the reigns, the chances of seeing everyones favorite vigilante demon on the big screen is higher than ever. With a script from original Spawn Comic Writer Todd McFarlane, this could be the hard R big budget film Spawn fans have been waiting for. While there was a previous film adaptation released in ’97 it’s probably best left in the dustbin of history. The HBO animated series, which ran for a few years in the late 90’s, was better, but still not the balls to the wall live action gore fest that fans crave. Another animated series, revealed back in ’09, has yet to be released at all. Blumhouse is more well known for their tightly budgeted and independent films than comic book blockbusters, so here’s hoping they give Spawn the attention to detail it deserves. A Quartet Of Quintessential Stephen King Films To Be Featured In A New Blu-ray Collection

As is the case with most of you, my Little Monsters, I am eagerly awaiting the upcoming release of cinematic fare by that Master of the Macabre, Stephen King. We have The Dark Tower coming out on August 4th and IT which is due out on September 8th. But four iconic King horror films will also be released as a collection somewhere in between these two highly anticipated theatrical releases. The 1979 adaptation of Salem’s Lot, Stanley Kubrick’s film version of The Shining, King’s second anthology film, Cat’s Eye, and the original 1989 mini-series adaptation of IT are being compiled for a Blu-ray collection called the “King og Horror Collection”. Granted, each of these adaptations have already been released independently, but such a collection would be a great way to get all the films in one place and would also make a perfect gift to provide newer fans a look at how some of King’s nightmarish stories have been translated

King’s Son Has High Praise for ‘IT’ Remake

It’s a pretty big year for Stephen King fans, with a film adaptation of The Dark Tower, a new original show Castle Rock, a television adaptation of Mr. Mercedes, and more being announced/released. But the most exciting upcoming project has got to be the IT remake, a new adaptation of one of King’s most famous (and longest) novels. The first trailer blew up online, with its terrifying new vision of Pennywise the Clown and 1980’s setting (as opposed to the 60’s setting in the novel). With just a few months until IT is released, a few people in the industry have seen an early cut, and at least one of them has high praise for the Andres Muschietti’s directed film. “Andres’ adaptation of IT is one of the 5 scariest films ever made,” Hill confidently stated. “It’s tremendously humane. The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor To Unleash New Haunted Maze

Southern California’s most authentic haunted attraction may just be the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor, and on Saturday, July 29, the attraction’s producers will unveil a new, as-yet-unnamed haunted maze. The seventh maze to be featured at the maritime haunt (along with “Deadrise”, “Lullaby”, “Circus”, and others), this new attraction is sure to terrify Halloween, haunt, and history buffs. What’s even better, is that you won’t have to wait until the traditional haunting season to experience the terror caused by the Captain and his legion of monsters and spirits. The unveiling of the new maze will happen at Midsummer Scream Halloween Festival, held at the Long Beach Convention Center on the weekend of July 23 and 30, 2017. The event’s organizers are planning presentation and discussion that’s sure to terrify, delight, and inform patrons. Prepare to have your spine chilled – just hope it doesn’t get ripped out.
