‘The Monster Project’ Creeping onto VOD August 18th

The most meta monster movie of the year is creeping it’s way onto VOD August 18th with the release of Victor Mathieu’s The Monster Project. Following a group of Youtubers seeking to expand their subscriber account. In the process they “post an online casting call for “real life” monsters to interview for their documentary. They find three participants and choose to film them sharing their haunted experiences in a mansion in the woods on the night of a lunar eclipse. The production suddenly turns into a nightmare when the participants transform into a real vampire, demon, and skinwalker (a type of harmful witch, according to Navajo legends, that can transform into any animal with the intent of harming people), forcing the unsuspecting crew to fight for their lives.” A trio of powerful monsters slaying annoying bloggers? Sounds like my kind of movie!

Haunted Destinations: Key West, Florida

If you’re like me, vacation planning usually involves researching at least one ghost tour wherever I happen to be taking the family on that particular trip. The great news for horror fans is that there is certainly no shortage of tours out there in virtually every destination you’d want to visit. I thought it might be fun to include an overview of some haunts for top vacation destinations from time to time, so with any luck this article will be the first of many “haunted destination” entries. ‘Return To Nuke ‘Em High Part 2’ To Be Premiered At Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival

Back in 2015, Horrorfuel.com posted that Lloyd Kaufman was requesting help with funding for the second part of Return to Return to Nuke Em High. Well, surprising nobody, the horror community rose to the occasion! Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival is extremely proud to announce that they will host the New York State Premiere of ‘Return to Return to Nuke Em High’ aka Vol. 2. If you are unfamiliar with the series, it deals with students battling mutant monsters, oppressive authority figures, sexual urges, and good taste at a contaminated high school. “Buffalo Dreams is proud to continue its association with Lloyd and the Troma team,” says festival co-founder Gregory Lamberson. “The premiere for ‘Return to Nuke Em High Vol. 1’ was the craziest in Buffalo history! Lloyd shot his last three films, including Poultrygeist, in Buffalo-Niagara, making Western New York the Tromaville-away-from-Tromaville. ‘The Munsters’ Reboot Smashes Its Way Onto NBC

After the failed rehash that was 2012’s oddly named Mockingbird Lane, NBC is zapping new life into the decades old Munsters franchise with a second attempt at rebooting. And this time Herman and the gang will be facing the only creatures that might be stranger than themselves…….. I’m so radically different, just like all my other friends Sure, making fun of hipsters and their stupid hats hasn’t been funny since 2013, but thats not stopping NBC giving it a shot. The new Munster series “follows members of an offbeat family who are determined to stay true to themselves but struggle to fit in in hipster Brooklyn.” Seth Meyers is on board as an executive producer, but little else is currently known about the project; casting, show runners, and a general sense of who actually wants this have yet to be revealed. ‘Clowntergeist’ Is Worth Checking Out

I had the opportunity to watch Aaron Mirtes’ horror film ‘Clowntergeist’. First things first, I enjoyed it. There were a few things in the film that hurt the movie a bit, but it is a good flick. I admit that I am a little done with the whole clown thing, but I would recommend this movie. Written by Director Aaron Mirtes and starring Brittany Belland, Aaron Mirtes, and Madeleine Heil. This fim follows Emma (Belland), a college student with a crippling fear of clowns, must come face to face with her worst fear when an evil spirit in the body of a clown terrorizes the small town she is living in for the summer. There were some really great things in the movie! Vile messages written on balloons that appeared out of nowhere were great and used exceptionally well. The demon speaking through the radio was a great thought. There were uses, and I loved it, of well-known urban myths

Movie Review: ‘Annabelle: Creation’ Crafts A Truly Creepy Origin Tale

Samuel Mullins worked as a toy-maker, and his specialty was crafting custom dolls. He worked from a shop situated in a building that lay adjacent to the home he shared with his wife Esther and their young daughter, Annabelle. One of his creations was a very distinctive looking doll, which was intended to be a limited edition of only 100. However, following the tragic death of young Annabelle, in a tragic accident, only one of these dolls would ever exist – the one he completed just prior to her death. Fast forward 12 years, as we join a group of orphaned girls accompanied by a nun, who are traveling to their new accommodations. Is ‘The Dark Tower’ Really That Bad?

No, it’s not…..but probably only if you already know the source material. The Dark Tower might seriously be the only movie I ever thought was actually too short. I really do enjoy a concise piece of cinema; Lord of the Rings withstanding, a pretty standard mistake in films, both masterpieces and massacred pieces, is a run time that’s just too long. The infamous bar scene in Inglorious Basterds, the highway opening of Manos: Hands of Fate, pretty much the entirety of The Room; many films, hits and shits alike, often could use a little more time in the cutting room, whether it be the result of overindulgent directors or expensive set pieces the studio doesn’t want to go to waste. However this is not so in The Dark Tower, which is without a doubt one of the most hopelessly confusing films in modern memory. Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Shawnee Smith

We are midway through yet another week my Little Monsters. August is well underway, the kiddie winkies are heading back to school (HUZZAH!), and Halloween lurks in the not so distant future – a mere 83 days to be exact.
