On April 6th through the 8th at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Comics Experience and Source Point Press will debut physical copies of the comic book series Wretched Things by Devon Wong, Ken Perry, and John Hunt. We’re not kidding when we say that are many Stephen King adaptations in the works, but we’re here to talk one specific project, CBS’s “The Stand” series adaptation from Josh Boone (The New Mutants). Originally, Boone, had a four-film franchise planned, instead, we’ll see ten one-hour episodes. This will make the second tv version of King’s “The Stand”. The first aired back in 1994 and was directed by Mick Garris. Tracking Board reported that, “Boone has a full plate once he wraps New Mutants.He’s still attached to direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, which we hear is coming together as a ten-hour limited series at CBS All Access.” In King’s 1978 novel, “After a deadly plague kills most of the world’s population, the remaining survivors split into two groups – one led by a benevolent elder and the other by a maleficent being – to face each other in a final battle between good and evil.” We’ll keep

Marvel fans are waiting for the release of a unique genre crossover, The New Mutants, based on the comic series by the same name, the upcoming film is a superhero-horror movie where the heroes endure frightening hallucinations that are connected to their troubling pasts as they learn about their superpowers, all the while being held against their wills in a secretive facility. The film was set to be released originally on April 13th, 2018, before being pushed back to February 22, 2019, making fans wait. Sadly today fans are learning that they will have to wait a little longer as the film’s release date for a second time has been pushed back, this time to August 2, 2019. With its waining popularity, it’s safe to say that The Walking Dead now has competition, The Terror, the new series based on the novel written by Dan Simmons of the same name. The book, as well as the new series, is a fictionalized account of the infamous Franklin’s Lost Expedition The show’s two-hour premiere with the episodes Go for Broke and Gore. The series is being produced by Scott Free Productions which explains the better production quality over AMC’s other series, The Walking Dead. I’m keeping my impressions spoiler free because I feel that if anyone’s interested in watching this show should do so and judge for themselves, with that here’s my first impression. First off, some are criticizing the premiere as being a bit “slow” but any sailor will tell you, it’s the calm before the storm. One of this year’s most highly-anticipated films is Jon Turteltaub’s The Meg, based on the novel series by Steve Alten. It’s about a Megalodon, a giant prehistoric shark, what’s not to love? Alten himself has just confirmed that the trailer for The Meg will be swimming in sometime early next month, followed by its theatrical release this summer. In the film, “A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. David Koepp and Blumhouse, along with Kevin Bacon, are teaming up for the film adaptation of the international best-selling novel You Should Have Left by Daniel Kehlmann, THR is reporting. Termors star Kevin Bacon will be both starring and producing the film which begins production later this year. Koepp, who penned the script, will be in the director’s chair. Bacon found the book and the two teamed up to option the story. This isn’t the first time the two have worked together, Koepp directed Bacon on the set of 1999’s supernatural thriller Stir of Echoes. Koepp’s screenwriting credits also include Jurassic Park, Panic Room, and Spider-Man. The book tells of, “a screenwriter who holes up in a remote house in the Alps with his wife and daughter so he can work on a sequel to his big hit. Legendary Comics has released the third issue of the six-part prequel series Pacific Rim Aftermath that takes place nine years after the events of the first film and one year before the second film. In this comic series, the giant monster-fighting robots known as Jaegers are being used by crime lords to gain control of Santa Monica’s criminal underworld. A former Jaeger pilot, Griffin, works as an enforcer for the Mech Czar who needs Griffin’s skills as a Jaeger pilot to help him rule the criminal underworld. In the middle of this chaos is Jake Pentecost, who will be played by John Boyega in the film, who’s looking for answers to what happened to his father, Kaiju War hero Stacker Pentecost. When I got the opportunity to interview Dale Midkiff, I jumped at the chance. I’ll be honest I may have even had a “fangirl” moment while talking with Dale, the star of one of my favorite classic horror films, Pet Sematary. While he was amazing the film, he’s also had so many roles in a lot of great films and series, including “The Magnificant Seven” series, The Crow: Salvation, Deep Rescue, Flight of the Living Dead, “Dexter”, and most recently Hell’s Kitty. Hell’s Kitty is a cameo-filled horror comedy from writer-director Nicholas Tana about a man and his possessed cat Angel. The cast of Hell’s Kitty sounds like a who’s who of horror with cameos from Midkiff, Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Courtney Gains (Children of the Corn), John Franklin (Children of the Corn), Kelli Maroney (Night of the Comet), and Lynn Lowry (The Crazies). Shawn Levy, the producer of Netflix’s hit series “Strangers Things”, has just announced that he is teaming up with horror heavy-hitter James Wan (The Conjuring franchise) for the Netflix adaptation of the New York Times best-seller “There’s Someone Inside Your House” by Stephanie Perkins. Deadline reports that the project is “similar in tone to Netflix’s Stranger Things: think 1980s and ’90s slasher movie meets a John Hughes coming-of-age tale like The Breakfast Club.” In the book, “More than a year after her parents sent her away from Hawaii to live with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska, Makani Young is still adjusting to her new life. Stephen King’s adaptations have been everywhere over the past few years, not that we are complaining. That trend shows no sign of ending anytime soon. In fact, Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of King’s sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep has now officially entered development. Flanagan will be directing from the script he penned with Akiva Goldsman. Flanagan is responsible for last year’s fantastic Netflix movie adaptation of King’s Gerald’s Game, along with films like Oculus, Hush, Before I wake, and Ouija: Origins of Evil. In Doctor Sleep, Danny Torrance carries the trauma he experienced at the Overlook Hotel into his adult life. He has become a reflection of his father, with a lingering rage bubbling under the surface.
