An Update From Joseph Gordon-Levitt On The ‘Sandman’ Movie

Joseph Gordon-Levitt gave an update on the ‘Sandman’ movie, which he will be producing, directing and starring in, at Spike’s Guy Choice Awards this weekend. “Big spectacular action movies are generally about crime fighters fighting crime and blowing shit up. This has nothing to do with that,” He continues “And it was actually one of the things that Neil Gaiman said to me, he said “Don’t have any punching.” Because he never does. If you read the comics, Morpheus doesn’t punch anybody. That’s not what he does. It’s going to be like a grand spectacular action film, but that relies on none of those same old ordinary cliches. So, that’s why it’s taking a lot of time to write, but it’s going to be really good.” Levitt, Gaiman and David S. Goyer, along with Jack Thorne, who will be serving as screenwriter for ‘Sandman’, are working hard to create a movie that will honor Neil Gaiman’s original vision for the

Update On The New Adaption Of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’

Stephen King’s novel ‘The Stand’ tells the story of a group of survivors, after the world is decimated by a man-made virus. This will mark the second time the novel has been made into a miniseries, the first aired back in 1994. The new adaption of King’s ‘The Stand’ is set to include an eight episode miniseries on Showtime that will lead to a full length feature film. The thought behind the miniseries concept is that the series of episodes would allow for more of the story to be told, than any one film could show. Reportedly, the miniseries will be a star studded event. Director Josh Boone is aiming to cast stars who have never before been seen in a TV series. Director Josh Boone The premier date for the miniseries has yet to be announced.

Love and Decay Vol 1, Season 1 by Rachel Higginson

Love and Decay Volume #1 (Episodes 1-6 of the first season) by Rachel Higginson is a book I have been meaning to read for a while. It was recommended to me months ago by a reader during Women in Horror month and I’m just now getting the chance to circle back around to it. As of this post, the book is available for free on Kindle. (I seem to plug kindle a lot, but it’s what I use and I love the fact that I can read books online or on my cell phone with the FREE Kindle Reading App. If you like another medium feel free to recommend it in the comments or to me on Twitter!) The good news with this series is that it is already several volumes in the making, which means that unless you have a huge reading appetite you won’t have to wait a long time for the next installment. …Not unless you get

THEM Episode 1 of Season 1 by M.D. Massey

THEM Episode 1 of Season 1 by M.D. Massey is a self described “paranormal post-apocalyptic thrill ride”. As with Champagne Jackson Kicks Zombie Ass, THEM immediately had some large shoes to fill by virtue of its tagline and book description. Description: THEM: Season 1, Episode 1 Scratch Sullivan is a professional monster hunter eking out a living after the zombie apocalypse. Z hunter, some would say… but he hunts more than just zombies. You see, there are deadlier predators roaming the badlands, where the fallout and some very nasty inhabitants have made it impossible for all but the bravest and most foolhardy to venture. Thing is, Scratch is happy enough with the odd job killing THEM and occasionally shacking up with his on and off girlfriend, Kara. But when a powerful vampire tips him off to a potential invasion of werewolves and zombies into the safe zone he protects, he’s forced to head straight into the heart of the deadlands

Damn The Dead by Phillip Tomaso

Phillip Tomasso is a fairly prolific author, especially in horror/supernatural categories. I added Damn the Dead to my reading queue months ago, and am just getting around to reading it. Evidently, although it is his new Arcadia series, it is a continuation in the sense that one of the main characters is from his Vaccination trilogy. That book is also on my to read list, but as I had scheduled Damn the Dead for this week it appears we’ll be looking at just how well this book stands apart from its predecessor. Synopsis: *Damn The Dead marks the beginning of an exciting new stand-alone series from Phillip Tomasso and takes place some 3 years after the conclusion of the best-selling Vaccination Trilogy. Even in the heat of the zombie apocalypse, a time must come to rebuild. Charlene McKinney and her friends are on the run in the mountain ranges of North Carolina. They’ve stolen an 18 wheeler filled with food

A Look At The New Series ‘Lucifer’ Coming To FOX

Over the past year news of TV adaptions of comic books and comic book characters has come frequently. Now DC’s character Lucifer from ‘The Sandman’ comics and it’s spin-off comic titled ‘Lucifer’, is joining the list of adaptions that includes ‘Constantine’, ‘Arrow’, ‘Preacher’, Robert Kirkman’s ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Outcast’. The character ‘Lucifer’ was created by Neil Gaiman, Mike Dringenberg and Sam Keith, which premiered in ‘The Sandman’ in 1989. The comic follows ‘Lucifer’ as he abandons his throne for the “shinning insanity” of LA. There he befriends a pop star, who is murdered in a drive by, in front of Lux, the night club that he owns. The murder stirs something in him and he vows to punish the people responsible. The detective assigned to the case, Chloe Dancer (Lauren German), is intrigued by Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and his ability to get the truth out of people. Together they set out to solve the case. ‘Lucifer’ is scripted by

Stephen King and Joe Hill’s ‘In The Tall Grass’ Is Being Adapted For Film

Stephen King, the master of the horror novel, has another tale that is being adapted for a film. ‘In The Tall Grass’ is a collaboration between King and his son Joe Hill, which was published back in 2012 in Esquire magazine. You may recognize Hill as the writer of the novel adapted for 2013’s movie ‘Horns’ . The screenplay for ‘In The Tall Grass’ is being written by ‘Cube’ writer-director Vincenzo Natali, who also wrote several episodes of the cannibalistic series ‘Hannibal’ as well as writing and directing the 2009 movie ‘Splice’, that starred Adrian Brody. The film adaption of ‘In the Tall Grass’ is now in preproduction, but no other information is available at this time. The novella follows a young man and his sister, who is pregnant. Flesh Without Soul by Pochassic

Flesh Without Soul is the debut novel of author Pochassic. The book is different than many of the books I’ve reviewed here on ZADF because unlike many in our beloved sub-genre of zombie fiction, this novel is complete. It doesn’t attempt to jump start a series, it’s a stand alone story which is incredibly unique. Book Description: What would you do to save the world? Eliminate racism? End Religious intolerance? Or simply destroy evil all together? Michael Kerr, a recent drop out from his PHD program in bioengineering, is sure he can save the world. It’s a simple plan. Kill everyone on the planet who doesn’t believe in God. Problem is Michael’s unfaltering belief that he is the one and only true God. Now that his plan to cleanse the world has been unleashed all he needs to do is tie up a few loose ends. First save his sister Kara, who runs a small pizza joint in town, and

Every Zombie Eats Somebody Sometime: A Book of Zombie Love Songs

This week I’m changing it up for the zombie comic or book review and am featuring a comedic parody book. Every Zombie Eats Somebody Sometime: A Book of Zombie Love Songs by Michael P. Spradlin and Illustrated by Jeff Weigel is an incredibly entertaining read and was a nice break from the depressing tales of the zombie-ridden wastelands that typically grace the would be shelves of ZADF. The premise of the book, according to the Author’s note, is that even zombies need love songs… Or rather, those left when the zombies strike, do. (If you’ve been watching the CW’s new series iZombie based on the comic of the same name, that would certainly seem to be true.) The basic idea is that sometime in your past with the love of your life (who is in all likelihood about to turn into zombie chow), you shared a favorite love song. This book is filled with zombie themed parodies to remind you
