At PAX East, Layopi Games and 1c Entertainment showcased a 19-minute playthrough trailer for their upcoming hack-and-slash dark fantasy, Devil’s Hunt. The game is based on the Polish bestselling novel, Equilibrium by Paweł Leśniak that’s part of a trilogy following the story’s anti-hero, Desmond. Players will be taking on the role of Desmond, a man once on top of the world but who fell on hard times resulting in him to literally make a deal with the Devil and become his executioner. Desmond will have to make a choice on where his allegiance truly lies as he’ll have to pick his battles to either fight Angels or Demons, the outcome would determine humankind’s fate. The Devil’s Hunt gameplay trailer showcases the powers Desmond will have and the kind of foes he will face in Hell, Jerusalem, and Miami. Desmond will be coming (and Hell’s coming with him) to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later in 2019.

What do you get when you cross reality TV and Airships? Well, the folks over at Tribetoy came up with a really good idea what it would be like in Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing. The game came out in 2018 exclusively for PlayStation VR but because of its high acclaim it has been ported for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch and will come out April 3rd. The awesome folks at Tribetoy gave me to the opportunity to play the Xbox One version of the game and all I can say is hold onto your air-pirate hats! You take on the role of Freelancer, an airship captain who, along with your two crew members, has entered a reality show where you compete against other airship crews and be the last captain standing. Each level is an “episode” in which you can warp to a level and fight against drone ships while completing objectives depending on the

Fatboy Games and Merge Games were kind enough to give me the opportunity to try their new dungeon crawler game, Vaporum. This first-person game takes the elements of old school dungeon crawling games but revamped them with a Steampunk twist. You play as a man who woke up in front of a tall metal structure in the middle of the ocean. With no memories of who he is he feels that the building is familiar. Going inside you quickly realize there’s something about this place that’s wrong. The movement of the game harks back to how old dungeon crawlers worked, to moves a square at a time as if you’re on a game board. It took some getting used to but I found no problem with it but if you’re someone that might not like it, don’t worry, there’s an option to make the movements smoother. Combat is pretty standard when it comes to RPG’s, you use your weapon and

It was announced at PAX East that Bruce Campbell will be bringing his popular character Ash Williams from the “Evil Dead” film and TV series to the popular cat-and-mouse horror game Dead by Daylight. Campbell teased that Ash was going to make it to video games in a past interview. Dead by Daylight is an online multiplayer where a group of four players takes on the roles as the “Survivors” while one player takes on the role of a “Killer” that is sometimes a creature. The survivors must escape a realm (level) that is used specifically by one type of killer. Since its release in 2016 the original three killers has grown to 15 and includes Freddy Kruger (“Nightmare on Elm Street”), Michael Myers (“Halloween”), Amanda Young (“Saw”), and Leather Face (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre”), each killer has their own perk and powers. Ash will be joining the growing list of 16 survivors that include Laurie Strode (“Halloween”), Bill (Left 4

Avalanche Studios and THQ Nordic were kind enough to allow me a chance to play their post-apocalyptic robotic nightmare set in 1980s Sweden, Generation Zero. Crank up your favorite 80s jam, fix your mullet, and acid wash those jeans along with that denim jacket! First, I should say I’m probably not playing the game the way it was meant to be played…solo. You can play online with up to three other players but it’s a breath of fresh air that you have that option. Before you get started you have to create your character with their “starting off” look as you will find clothing and accessories throughout the game (some of which have abilities like fire resistance), your options for starting outfit are rebel, punk, greaser, hip-hop, nerd, popular, and military. I went military because why not. It’s an open world in this game and boy is it big, there are so many places to go, so much loot to

Previously, I’ve talked about a new first-person horror game titled Moons of Madness, a space exploration game with a Lovecraft twist. A lot has changed since I last shared about the game, mainly the release date changed, but for the better. Rocket Pocket Games has teamed up with Funcom and have set the game’s release around the Halloween season this year! Along with a new release date comes new information about the game. As previously mentioned you play as Shane Newhart, a technician working at a secret research base stationed on Mars. Your job is just tech work and making sure the lights don’t go out and having low-security clearance prevents you from knowing the real reason for the station’s presence on Mars. Soon Shane will begin to see and hear things that aren’t there…or are they? He’ll discover that he’s alone at the station…or is he? Cosmic horrors the likes of which Lovecraft wrote about will make its presence

Avalanche Studios and THQ Nordic will be taking us to Sweden in the 1980s in Generation Zero, a first-person shooter that pits you against killer robots. Squad up with three friends or go on by yourself, the game features an open world with a daylight cycle and unpredictable weather. On the fly you will have to pick your battles and how to or not to fight them. The sandbox combat mechanic allows you to fight how you want to as you explore the world and discover the truth behind this mysterious rise of machines. Enemies big and small are constantly stalking around the landscape with the sole purpose to kill humans on sight. What makes these AI enemies in this game interesting is that any damage you cause one of them is permanent, meaning if you damaged one robot and ran away; you will see that particular character model again with the damage even if it’s been days since you

It may come to a surprise to many but the battle royal game PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) is VERY popular in India. While many players feel that the game has become a, “been there, done that” experience. Many even scoffed at the mobile version of the game when it came out, but in mobile-loving India, it’s the greatest thing ever! Why is PUBG such a hit among players? As mentioned above, India loves mobile technology. Mobile users in the country range in the hundreds of millions! Another reason why the game is popular is the use of in-game voice chatting which allows players to communicate with one another if they’re playing in a squad. This has led to many players to befriend their virtual squadmates in the real world. India, like many other countries, loves to be competitive in any way possible and that’s not limiting to the world of competitive gaming known as E-Sports. Also in a culture that bases

What could be described as a lovechild between Outlast 2, Firewatch, Resident Evil 7, and Vanishing of Ethan Carter; comes a whole new psychological-horror adventure game, Someday You’ll Return. The game comes from the 2-man indie developer team out of Brno, CBE Software. This first-person experience follows Daniel as he searches the Moravian forests for his runaway daughter Stela. It’s a mystery as to why Stela chose these woods that Daniel swore he would never return to, which adds to the mystery of WHY does he not want to go back there. Daniel will encounter locals and supernatural forces that will help fill in the blanks of his past and answer why Stela is always running away from home. The game is horror but has a strong narrative-driven exploration element as the open world (a forest) is full of trails that can be explored using Daniel’s tracking skills and rock-climbing ability. There’s also a crafting mechanic where you can create
