‘Sonic’ To Be Redesigned Says Director

First, it was the “creepy legs” on the poster, then it was the “creepy teeth” in the trailer, fans did not hold back how much they hated the look of the iconic video game character Sonic in the upcoming live-action film, Sonic the Hedgehog. The film will follow the iconic character’s misadventures on Earth along with a human sidekick. The “Sonic” games are iconic to many gamers and fans of SEGA. The blue caricature of famed spiky animal species collects rings and frees animals that were turned into robots all while moving at great speed. The game spawned an animated TV series as well as some more up to date games that take place in the Sonic universe. The live-action film came under fire immediately after the teaser poster was released showing a silhouette of Sonic in an “on your mark!” pose with his iconic red shoes visible. Immediately after the release of the poster, fans cringed at the “human-like”

It’s A Cold World Out There: Game Review Of ‘Fade To Silence’

THQ Nordic and Black Forest Games have given me the opportunity to try out their new post-apocalyptic RPG, Fade to Silence, a game that takes you to what remains of our world after an unknown otherworldly cataclysm caused it to become a broken frozen wasteland. Does the game deliver salvation or will it leave you in the cold? Let’s find out! You take on the role of Ash, a man struggling to survive with his daughter in what’s left of our world. Ash is the leader of a refuge that serves as the home base for what’s left of his family and other survivors you may come across in the world. Ash is plagued by the voice of a wraith-like entity known simply as the inner voice that taunts him at every turn and appears from time to time. The main focus of the game is to go out in the world and gather supplies in order to survive. The

Celebrate Alien Day With These Facts

Happy Alien Day! For those not in the know, today is that day we celebrate the release of the first Alien film, and this year it’s special, not just because it’s the 4th annual Alien Day but it’s also the 40th Anniversary of the film’s release back in 1979! What better way to celebrate than with sharing some interesting trivia relating to the films. Warning, there may some spoilers ahead. The film series was originally going to be called Star Beast When production staff first met H.R. Giger to see if he would be perfect for the project, he offered them drugs. The members declined but asked Giger why he has them and he said it helped “Keep the nightmares away.”, the crew members knew right there he was perfect for the job. This leads to the following bit of info… H.R. Giger suffered from severe night terrors; he then took what he saw in his dreams and made them

Preview: Sniper Elite V2 Remastered

Rebellion was awesome enough to send me a preview of their upcoming game, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered for the Xbox One. This remastered version of the game is chock-full of goodies for any fan of sniper games, or for someone like me who’s played the original game. This third-person shooter will take you behind enemy lines towards the end of the Second World War as an OSS operative and sniper. You can go in guns blazing or (my preferred method) stealthy and keeping the enemy as far away as your sniper scope can zoom. You can lone wolf it or bring a friend to back you up. This game is a lot of fun to play, you can set traps to cover your escape, place explosives for you to snipe, and you can hone your sniper skills (depending on the difficulty). The best part is when you shoot your rifle, there’s a cinematic scene where you follow the bullet to

The New ‘Carnivore Dinosaur Pack’ DLC Adds More Teeth To ‘Jurassic World Evolution’

Adding more carnivores to your own Jurassic Park, what could go wrong right? Well, Frontier Games gave me the opportunity to try out their latest DLC for Jurassic World Evolution, the “Carnivore Dinosaur Pack” that features three new dinosaurs. They come in three sizes, small, medium, and large but let’s start off with the small one first since it’s my favorite of the three, the Proceratosaurus, this little guy is your standard pack following eating machine, though it’s my favorite its weak against many of the bigger dinos. The Herrerasaurus is the next size up, it acts like the Indoraptor from the “Fallen Kingdom” DLC in how it attacks other dinos and guests, a vicious bugger! Finally the big boy, the Acrocanthosaurus. This pudgy Rex looking dino is pretty tough against smaller carnivores but can be easily taken down by a T-Rex. I like how much detail went into it for the game, in real life scientists believe how its

Dario Argento’s Next Project… A Video Game?!

The legendary Italian filmmaker who brought us Suspiria, Deep Red, Phenomena, and his collaboration with George A. Romero with Dawn of the Dead, Dario Argento, will now add video games to his list of works as the artistic director for the upcoming horror/thriller Dreadful Bond that’s being made by Clod Studio. The indie crowd-funded game is still in the works has a Kickstarter up where you can donate, and depending on how much you donate, can receive items signed by Argento himself! Dreadful Bond is a project that’s very close to my themes, to my films, to my dreams: it has something deep that struck me immediately. I got carried away on this new journey with Clod Studio” says Argento. The game is a supernatural, psychological thriller set in the first-person view of an unknown character who is exploring a mansion that was the site of recent horrors. The more the character explores the mansion, the more secrets they’ll uncover

Movie Review: Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons (2019)

Dungeon & Dragons; you can bet your arcane asses that a young Dan XIII spent many a lonely, female-less…I mean fun-packed afternoon consuming mass quantities of junk and battling all manner of monsters and maniacs with my erstwhile companions, and even though it’s been decades since I tossed the ol’ dice, I still have an infinity for the game and it’s associated imagery. Speaking of that imagery, you can bet demons to donuts that it was breathtaking, and sparked the imagination of player’s world wide (and let’s be honest, a Dungeonmaster’s job is a titch easier with visual aids)…and Eye of the Beholder explores it’s creation and history in impressive detail! Through ninety minutes we journey from the genesis of the game itself, through it’s earliest utilization of pen and ink illustrations, on to TSR’s (the company that published the game for those of you not in the know) creation of a full-time art department. We witness the growth of

The Nostalgia Continues! Book Review Of ‘The SNES Omnibus: The Super Nintendo And Its Games, Vol. 2’

A slow rainy day is made better with a good sit-down with a book. Luckily for me, Brett Weiss and Schiffer Publishing sent me a copy of Weiss’s latest coffee table read, The SNES Omnibus: The Super Nintendo and Its Games, Vol. 2 (N–Z). I previously reviewed volume one and my feelings towards this volume are no different. The book is laid out in the same format as the previous one where the games are listed alphabetically and include lots of pictures showing gameplay, box art, and for some of them, even the ads for the games. I’ll admit there are some kooky box arts… Just like volume 1, this is a treasure-trove of childhood flashbacks of games I remember being advertised and even movies that came out around that time…they made any movie into a video game back then! As much as I like this book (well both of them actually) I did some digging around and realized that

Back From The Ashes!: Game Review Of ‘Shadowgate’(Remake)

Gather around and I’ll tell you the tale of a legendary game that rose from the graveyard of game lore to make a triumphant return! Gamers worth their weight in hours of gameplay tell tales of an old adventure point-and-click game on PC in 1987 where you venture into a castle to vanquish an old warlock after traversing through the maze of a castle. This game is called Shadowgate. It spawned two sequels, Beyond Shadowgate that came out in 1987 too, and Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers that came out in 1999 for the Nintendo 64. Now in the present time, Zojoi and Abstraction brought the legendary game back with a complete and epic update, and they were kind enough to allow me to try it out. I present to you fellow adventurers, the remake of Shadowgate. In this first-person point-and-click game, you play as a young warrior who was summoned by the wizard Lakmir who is the
