DAYS OF THE DEAD Is Nearly Upon Us

June is here, and Days of the Dead is nearly upon us. IS nearly upon us? Yes my Little Monsters, I know it sounds grammatically incorrect, but it’s not…trust me. The reason why it is, in fact, correct is because I happen to be referring to a singular event, the annual horror convention that will be returning to Indianapolis at the end of June. Of course since it’s a three day event, I could refer to it in the plural form…but let’s not get hung up on semantics. Days of the Dead will officially kick off the weekend’s festivities at 5 PM Friday June 30th and run through Sunday July 2nd. As per usual, the fine folks at Days of the Dead will make it possible for fans to meet genre icons and mingle with fellow horror junkies. The banner above may whet your appetite with the likes of the creator of the Living Dead himself, George Romero, as well

10 Cloverfield Lane Scribes To Adapt Bestseller SCYTHE

Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken, the writers behind 10 Cloverfield Lane, have been snagged by Universal Pictures to pen the adaption of Neal Shusterman’s bestseller Scythe, Deadline reports. A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery: humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now “Scythes” are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control. Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own. Dylan Clark will produce with Trevor Engelson. Shusterman will serve as executive producer. You can pick up your copy of Scythe, the first book of a series, now on Amazon.

Stephen And Owen King’s SLEEPING BEAUTIES Being Adapted For Television

Adaptations of Stephen King’s works are everywhere these days, including IT , The Dark Tower,, Gerald’s Game, 1922, Revival, Mr. Mercedes, The Mist, and The Stand. Deadline is now reporting that Sleeping Beauties, King’s most recent novel which is a collaboration with his son Owen, has been picked up by Anonymous Content with the intention of adapting the book for a television series. That’s not surprising, but what is surprising is the fact that Sleeping Beauty is not set to arrive in stores until September 26, 2017. In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place… The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious

McFarlane Spills Details On The ‘Spawn’ Reboot

We reported back last February that Todd McFarlane had completed the script for the new Spawn movie, a reboot of the 1997 movie, based on the dark comic that he created by the same name. It’s been a while since we heard an update, until now. Fortunately, McFarlane gave a new update recently during the Emerald City Comic Con via a video during a panel. He stated that Spawn is still alive, despite rumors. Listen, I’m going to paint it for you. The movie is going to be a dark R…If here’s PG-13 and here’s Deadpool and here’s Logan, we’re going to be here. It’s going to be nasty.” This past September, McFarlane had this to say about the film: I’d put it more into horror/suspense/supernatural genre,” He said. “In the background, there’s this thing moving around, this boogeyman. That boogeyman just happens to be something that you and I, intellectually, know is Spawn.” McFarlane continues o explain the character.

Suspension of Disbelief in Film Dysmorphia

Suspension of Disbelief? Sit through this annoying video up until the 5:00 mark. The fan boy “host” in the above video talks in attention deficit tweets. The video uses jump cut “hip” editing to spill out unabashed respect and love for the CGI technique that brought Peter Cushing back from the grave in “Rogue One.” He spends the first five minutes elaborating on the incredible work and effort it took create this digital feat. The “host” proclaims, “I think they pulled it off.” Then, being a true “fan” he takes a swipe at all of the work done by Industrial Light and Magic, effects artist, John Knoll and director Gareth Edwards. “Now Tarkin didn’t look a hundred percent authentic,” the “host” whines, “especially the movement of his mouth, but…he looked better than any other time this has been used.” What movies has this guy made? What has happened to film audiences? In the never ending quest for “realism” in special
