When I received Michael Broom‘s debut graphic novel “Membrane” I was extremely excited. You see, I’ve been following Broom’s social media accounts since I interviewed him back in 2017 about his work with KNB and on “The Walking Dead”. The incredible artist has been teasing the graphic novel and his children’s book “Sky Rats” and its sequel for a while. I’m glad to finally have the book in hand. The novel follows a military man turned criminal Called on by the government to go on a mission to another dimension, tasked with retrieving another soldier. When he arrives in the nightmare dimension his long journey begins across an alien landscape filled with strange creatures. The forward is written by none other by Greg Nicotero (“The Walking Dead”, “Creepshow”). Bio-organic flying creatures that provide light, a sword that is virtually alive, and cemeteries whose inhabitants don’t like being disturbed; Membrane has the ability to redifine everything that we have ever imagined

Rodman Flender (Idle Hands, ‘Scream: The TV Series’) brought Gunpowder & Sky, ALTER, DIGA Studios, and Full Fathom Five’s zombie rom-com Eat, Brains, Love to viewers digitally on Valentine’s day. The flick, based on the novel of the same name by Jeff Hart, follows stoner loser Jake, and cheerleader captain Amanda after they become zombies and are on the run from a government organization that uses Psychics to find and kill Zombies. The problem is, one of the best psychics in the organization is falling in love with Jake. There are spoilers ahead but if you just want my final thought you can scroll down to the end. SPOILERS AHEAD! The film is told through narration by Jake (Jake Cannavale) and the psychic teenage government worker Cass (Sarah Yarkin) which at times also doubles as an inner monologue. Osgood Perkins has become a heavy hitter in the horror genre, delivering films like The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Gretel & Hansel, which just arrived in theaters. So, you may be wondering what’s next for Perkins. According to Bloody Disgusting, he’s next doing a loose adaptation of Paul G. Tremblay‘s A Head Full of Ghosts which won the 2015 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Novel. Stephen King said the novel, “Sacred the living hell out of me and I’m pretty hard to scare.” The plot of the novel involves an American family under strain when their fourteen-year-old daughter, Marjorie Barrett, exhibits signs of mental illness. The story is told from the point of view of Marjorie’s eight-year-old sister, Merry. The novel includes elements of Catholic exorcism and reality television exploitation. It’s certainly a script that I’m happy about. Whether or not that becomes a movie, you know how

Mary Shelley, known for her classic novel Frankenstein, wrote another less known novel, The Last Man, published in 1826. The novel was considered too dark for the time and was not reprinted until the 1960s. But with today’s love for horror, the tale would be a hit and is begging to be adapted. Called “a sickening repetition of horrors,” by one reviewer, the dystopian tale is set in 2100 in England. The people in the novel travel in ballons and the rest of the world is at peace, save for Greece and Turkey who are at war. Narrator, Lione Verney recounts the story of his life before becoming the last man alive after a plague sweeps the world. He witnesses the breakdown of society and the growth of doomsday cults as people struggle to find a cure for the plague, to uncover where it came from and what caused it. The Last Man was the first apocalyptic written in English

Stephen King adaptations have never been more popular than they are today. It feels like we are reporting weekly about a new film or series based on King’s works (not that we are complaining). This time, we are here to talk about Sleeping Beauties, written by Stephen and Owen King (King’s youngest son). During the TelevisonCritics Association’s press tour AMC announced that they have given the order for the pilot episode with Stephen King and Owen King serving as executive producers alongside Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta of Sugar23. “In a small Appalachian town, there’s a strange mystical occurrence that causes all the women to fall asleep, leaving the men to try and rescue them. But do the women want to be rescued?” We’ll keep you posted.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own. When I heard that a Superman based TV series was being produced that wouldn’t focus on ol’ Kal-El I was a bit perplexed (to be fair, that’s my normal state), but the end result was pretty damn fantastic (and you can read my thoughts on the matter right here). Well as fate and ratings would demand, our pals at SyFy gave us a second season of Krypton, and I’m fixin’ to slap my eyeballs on it post-haste! Season two drops the ol’ city of Kandor well and truly into the soup! Zod still has Big K in his iron grip of insanity, and he’s got a wild hair up his alien ass about conquering the entire universe in order to ensure a rebuilt Krypton’s security… a Krypton rebuilt to his exact specifications mind you!
