‘Morbius’ Sinks His Fangs Into His First Trailer

Today, we get our first look at Jared Leto in the new teaser trailer for Morbius, which is now confirmed to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life. The cast also includes Tyrese Gibson as FBI agent Simon Stroud, Jared Harris (“The Terror”) who plays Morbius’ mentor, Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”) whose role is villain Loxias Crown, and Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising) as Morbius’ love interest. Daniel Espinosa (Life) directs from the script penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless based on the Morbius character created by writer Roy Thomas which made its debut in Amazing Spider-Man #101. Morbius sinks his fangs into theaters on July 31, 2020.

Monster Hunters Are On A Mission In Netflix’s “October Faction” Series Trailer

Ahead of its series premiere later this month we’ve got Netflix’s new trailer for “October Faction,” based on the IDW comic book series by Steve Niles. The series, described as “Men In Black meets ‘Riverdale,'” follows Fred (J.C. MacKenzie)) and Deloris Allen (Tamara Taylor) who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in New York with their 17-year-old twins Geoff (Gabriel Darku) and Viv (Aurora Burghart). Subsequently, Geoff and Viv’s lives are turned upside down when they discover their seemingly unremarkable insurance sales rep parents are, in fact, (spoiler alert!) trained assassins who hunt monsters. The series was adapted, created and is executive produced by Damian Kindler (“American Gods”, “Sleepy Hollow”, “Krypton”). Check out the trailer for “October Faction“, produced by High Park Entertainment in association with IDW Entertainment. The action-packed, monster-filled series is set to premiere on January 23, 2020, on Netflix.

‘Bloodshot’ Is Getting An Early Release!

Based on the bestselling Valiant comic book, director David S. F. Wilson‘s Bloodshot follows Vin Diesel (Fast and the Furious franchise) as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation. Samwise Didier’s ‘How To’ Book Is A Fun Challenge: Book Review

I’m always up to a challenge and willing to try anything new, especially when it comes to the arts. Thankfully Thunder Bay Press allowed me to check out Samwise Didier’s book How to Draw Mythical Monsters and Magical Creatures: An Artist’s Guide to Drawing Mythical Creatures from One of the Masters, that’s quite a mouthful. Let’s talk quickly about Didier himself first. For those of you not familiar with him but most likely know his works. Didier is a Senior Art Director over at Blizzard Entertainment where he directed the art style for the games; Warcraft, StarCraft, and Heroes of the Storm franchises. He also created the artwork for World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Diablo games. Now onto the book itself! Our First Look at Netflix’s “Locke And Key” Takes Us to Keyhouse Manor

Last week, Netflix announced its series adaptation of “Locke & Key,” based on the best-selling graphic novels by Joe Hill. Today, we have the first look at the series to share with you. In the series, “After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. “Game Of Thrones” Creators’ Upcoming Film Brings The World Of H.P. Lovecraft To Life

What if the horrifying world created by H.P. Lovecraft was real? We’ll soon see such a thing in the form of a feature film from the creators of “Game of Thrones” and Warner Bros. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who brought us the amazing series “Game of Thrones,” “are bringing the monster-filled world to life based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Hans Rodionoff’s graphic novel “Lovecraft,” Deadline reports. According to the site, “the movie asks a horrifying question: what if H.P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up? What if the monsters he created are real? Also, the movie will be set in 1920 withing the Cthulhu mythos.” The script is being penned by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body) is executive producing. We’ll update you when we know more.

‘Chained: A Victorian Nightmare’ Coming To VR

MWM Interactive is bringing the chills in time for the holidays with a haunting retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic Victorian ghost story, A Christmas Carol in the new VR experience ripped right from the pages, Chained: A Victorian Nightmare. Chained: A Victorian Nightmare is an interactive first-person where players can experience the long night of facing the past, present, and future through the eyes of Scrooge himself. The game itself is moody and atmospheric staying true to the original source material which is darker than what we were told as kids (cheeky Victorians). Review: Issue #1 Of Joe Hill’s “Dying Is Easy”

So, I’ve gotten my hands on issue one of Joe Hill’s new comic Dying is Easy, from publisher IDW, the same publisher that brought us Hill’s The Cape, Road Rage, Thumbprint, and Locke & Key. The first issue opens with a dark and humorous stand-up routine by the main character, Syd “Shit Talk” Homes, an ex-cop with a sharp tongue and a quick wit. Hill made a bold choice opening a new comic with a comedy routine, but if you read closely, the routine reveals quite a lot about Syd. After his set, Syd sits talking with two other comedians as they discuss a young comic and his habits of stealing from other routines. The conversation flows well. Presumably set in the ’90s (Leno and “Friends” receive a nod), we also get hints of Syd’s past that includes murder and a woman. The cast continues to build for the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King‘s Lisey’s Story over at Apple TV+.
