A big thank you to Neon Giant and Curve Digital for the opportunity to review this cyberpunk RPG! If you’re still being burned by a certain cyberpunk game earlier this year or can’t get enough of the cyberpunk aesthetics, then The Ascent is for you! The Ascent takes players to another planet where a corporate-operated city stretches high in the air and is home to millions of workers (more like slaves) to The Ascent Group arcology from all over the galaxy. One day, the company’s systems shut down putting the livelihood of all who live in the city in jeopardy as rival corporate groups and black marketers try to take advantage. I’m letting slide some tech issues as it’s been announced that patches are on the way in August and September but let’s get on to the game itself! Los Angeles-based Dark Star Pictures has just announced the upcoming US release dates today for Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman and Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman. The releases include a nationwide one-night Fathom release (In over 750 cinemas) for both titles, with VOD and DVD releases to follow in September and October respectively. Set in a gritty and decadent 1970s America, American Boogeyman follows elusive and charming killer Ted Bundy and the manhunt that brought him to justice, involving the detective and the FBI rookie who coined the phrase “serial killer.” Daniel Farrands wrote and directed the project, which stars Chad Michael Murray (House Of Wax, The Haunting In Connecticut 2: Ghosts Of Georgia, and Riverdale) as Bundy. Rounding out the key cast are genre actress Lin Shaye (Insidious franchise, The Grudge, Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels) and Holland Roden (Escape Room 2, Teen Wolf). Just to let you know where you stand with Hail to the Deadites, this film is made by Evil Dead fans for Evil Dead fans… so expect a particular level of diabolical deep-divin’ and outre obsession here boils n’ ghouls! To wit: through the course of this here documentary we follow the exploits of individuals that are so deeply in love with Evil Dead that they create their nuptials around it, dress up as series hero Ash (Bruce Campbell… who appears in this flick throughout), and basically spend a fuckin’ fortune to scoop up any and all pieces of Evil Dead ephemera, including materials used in the films themselves! The entire thing is, as you may surmise filled to the brim with nothin’ but a heapin’ helpin’ of heart; these folks are presented honestly and are incredibly open about the space the franchise occupies in their lives. After the announcement trailer for the upcoming first-person adventure game BLACKTAIL fans have commented on the music heard in it and made it clear they wanted to hear more. Today developer THE PARASITE has released more information about the game’s soundtrack. The game’s soundtrack will be composed by the award-winning composer Arkadiusz Reikowski who also composed the soundtrack for Layers of Fear 2, Blair Witch, and The Medium where he worked alongside legendary composer Akira Yamaoka. Reilowski had this to say about what fans will be expecting to hear: In BLACKTAIL, a combination of dreamlike, Slavic themes, and modern motifs is unheard of, and allows us to create something truly unique, something that has not been previously seen in the videogame industry.
