This April, dare to enter the forest of Redwood. From acclaimed Blood Feast director Marcel Walz, and starring scream queens Elissa Dowling and Felissa Rose comes this paranormal thriller. Rootwood follows two students who host ‘The Spooky Hour’, a podcast about paranormal phenomena and urban legends. When they are hired by a Hollywood film producer to shoot a horror documentary about the curse of The Wooden Devil, they smell their chance to become famous. Together, with their friend, they enter Rootwood Forest and investigate the area to find out the truth about The Wooden Devil and his victims.Scripted by Mario von Czapiewski, the film also stars Tyler Gallant (Alpha Wolf), Elissa Dowling (Death House), Sarah French (The Amityville Murders), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Tiffani Fest (Circus of the Dead), and Brandon Rhea (Fearless). Rootwood takes you on a dark journey into the forest on April 7th on DVD and Digital, from High Octane Pictures.

In the film, while recovering from an abortion, a young woman is tormented by the spirits of the unborn…who seek a mother. Courtney McKeon (The Three Don’ts), Fiach Kunz (“Game of Thrones”), Paul Fitzgerald (The Sleep Experiment), and Lisa Tyrrell (Urban Traffik) star. Murphy produced along with Barry Fahy and Vachon Gill. Director Joe Lynch (Mayhem and Wrong Turn 2) hails the film, saying, “It’s like if Ken Loach remade Don’t Look Now.” The Perished is set to be released on April 7th in North America through The Horror Collective.

The long and the short of the upcoming fright flick Morbid Colors goes as follows: a duo of freaky foster sisters set of an a quest to put the stalk n’ slay on a rich-as-balls socialite. Seems like a rather standard trip down our beloved Revenge Road, but the filmmakers have included one hell of a terror twist here cats n’ creeps; it seems the older sister is of the fang-bang set, and these ghoulish girls believe that Richie Rich mentioned previous is the vampire what done it! Along with that nifty preternatural premise up yonder, writer/director Matthew Packman has created a suitably cold and dreary world for this arcane action to go down in. Filled with leather jackets, slate-grey skies, underground metal bands, eyes hidden behind sunglasses, and an environment that is as bleak as the story set in it, this is one hell of a low-budget flick, and the careful choices of visuals and mythology sell the picture

The Crater Lake Monster (1977) After a meteor crashes in a lake, a prehistoric monster emerges from the waters and attacks at random. The first trailer for filmmaker Miles Doleac’s The Dinner Party is here ahead of its debut at festivals soon before a wider release later this year through Uncork’d Entertainment. In the film, written and directed by the Banshee alum, a budding playwright and his wife attend a dinner party hosted by wealthy, cultural elites, who have promised to bankroll the writer’s latest play to Broadway, but, in fact, have darker designs in mind for the couple. Shot in Hattiesburg, MS, the film stars Bill Sage, Lindsay Anne Williams, Jeremy London, Mike Mayhall, Alli Hart, Ritchie Montgomery, and Doleac. The Dinner Party will arrive this Summer.

The new teaser trailer has arrived for Thunderknight Entertainment’s upcoming feature film The Dead Rose. Currently, in pre-production, it stars legendary actors Vernon Wells (The Road Warrior, Weird Science), Richard Tyson (Kindergarten Cop opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, Black Hawk Down), Mel Novak (Bruce Lee’s Game of Death), Cooper Huckabee (The Fun House, True Blood), and Casting is by JS Snyder and Associates. The script was written by Robert Bieber. Jimmy Drain (The Initiation) co-wrote the film and stars as well as directs.
