I don’t know about you, but I have a real fear of AI going terribly wrong. That happens to be the premise of the sci-fi thriller Monsters of Man, which is currently running an Indiegogo campaign. In his stunning directorial debut, Mark Toia combines non-stop action with powerful special effects to explore AI, corruption, and the terrifying possibilities of future warfare. The movie “reveals the consequences of unchecked power and robots who have advanced beyond human control. When a corrupt CIA agent (Neil McDonough) teams up with a robotics company to deploy an illegal, unsanctioned military operation, the plan is to drop four prototype robots into a suspected drug manufacturing camp in the Golden Triangle that no one will miss. The mission is to prove the robotics company is worthy of winning a lucrative military contract but all goes horribly awry when six American volunteer doctors witness the brutal slaughter of an innocent village and are forced into a deadly

We’ve got the first trailer for Shudder’s upcoming horror-comedy Scare Me, the feature debut of writer-director Josh Ruben, arriving on the streaming service just ahead of Halloween. In the film, Fred (Josh Ruben, CollegeHumor), a frustrated copywriter, checks into a winter cabin to start his first novel. While jogging in the nearby woods, he meets Fanny (Aya Cash, “You’re The Worst” “The Boys”), a successful and smug young horror author who fuels his insecurities. During a power outage, Fanny challenges Fred to tell a scary story. As a storm sets in, they pass the time spinning spooky tales fueled by the tensions between them, and Fred is forced to confront his ultimate fear: Fanny is the better storyteller. The stakes are raised when they’re visited by a horror fan (Chris Redd, “Saturday Night Live”) who delivers levity (and a pizza) to the proceedings. “About the pleasures and perils of storytelling and the genre’s power to exorcise social demons, Scare Me

But that may be changing. Thomas Jane, who appears in three King adaptations (Dreamcatcher, The Mist, 1922) is now determined to adapt it for a feature film. Jane teamed up last year with Courtney Lauren Penn to create Renegade Entertainment and they have From a Buick 8 in their headlights. That’s not all, Jane recently revealed on The Kingcast podcast that Stake Land‘s Jim Mickle has now signed on to direct. We are assuming Jane will star. The story “centers around the rural town of Statler, Pennsylvania where the state police have kept a mysterious 1954 Buick Roadmaster in the shed behind the barracks for over twenty years. When the town is plagued by strange and supernatural events, it turns out
