Dark Comedy-Thriller ‘The Estate’ Slashing Its Way Into Theaters & Onto VOD

Director James Kapner makes his feature debut with The Estate, part dark comedy, part thriller, which reminds us that family reunions can be brutal. In the film, when a narcissistic son (Chris Baker), yearning for a life of luxury, and his father’s erratic gold-digging wife (Eliza Coupe) decide to kill their way into their inheritance, they employ the help of an absurdly handsome, mysterious hitman (Greg Finley), initiating a psychosexual love triangle that spirals into more than anyone bargained for. Deftly balancing sharp humor and horror, The Estate delivers a perfectly campy, wildly enjoyable thrill ride that packs a deadly punch. Ultra Violent Film ‘The Spine Of The Night’ Coming This October

The fantasy-horror film The Spine of Night made its world premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. Now, it’s ready to make its debut in theaters, on Demand, and on Digital this October. Produced with hand-rotoscoped animation, The Spine of Night is inspired by the classic works of artists like Ralph Bakshi and Frank Franzetta, and the fantasy genre as it was in the 1970s: boundary-pushing, politically progressive, and utterly fearless. THE SPINE OF NIGHT is like the insane love child of Heavy Metal and Mandy,” said Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer at RLJE Films. Written and directed by Philip Gelatt (They Remain) and Morgan Galen King (directorial debut), the film stars Richard E. Grant (Star Wars: Episode IX, upcoming Marvel series “Loki”), Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess”, “Ash vs Evil Dead”), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Betty Gabriel (Get Out, “Westworld”), and Joe Manganiello (Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Archenemy). A24 Gifts Viewers An Early Christmas Present, The Surprise Release Of 'Lamb' On VOD

Movie Review: Lamb

I have seen my share of strange films but Valdimar Jóhannsson’s Lamb takes the cake. I have never seen anything else like it. When a couple (Noomi Rapace and Hilmir Snær Guðnason) discovers one of the sheep on their farm has given birth to something not completely human, not completely animal, a baby with a human body and a lamb’s head. They set their eyes on the creature they respond with a deadpan reaction like it was an everyday occurrence, and silently go about raising it in a bid to soothe their sorrow for their lost child. The couple’s reactions to the events throughout the movie are downright odd. The first sight of the child they have named Ada is not the only “meh” reaction they have. The two spend much of the film silently going about their business of farming like they are numb. The film’s location is stunning. It plays out in a remote area of Iceland. The
