Candle Cove tells the story of two adults remembering a childhood fav; a silent televised puppet show called Candle Cove. As fate would have it, they find a box which contains recorded episodes of the show, including the finale…a finale that featured the puppets screaming in terror for the duration. As they examine the tapes, all they see is static…until they pop in the finale and the screaming starts! Based (loosely) on the creepypasta of the same name (which also served as the basis for the first season of SyFy’s Channel Zero), Candle Cove is a very brief distillation of what made the original tale so memorable. Short though it is, this version still manages to maintain the same eerie vibe, but I personally would have liked to see more of what made the story so effective (i.e. the original yarn features horrifying pirate based puppets, while this one features silent Punch N’ Judy like characters, and was presented a

After a man is strangled in his sleep, and twisted into a knot like one of those massive-ass mall pretzels, the police immediately blame the dude’s wife, no matter who vehemently their daughter blames someone called ‘Mara’. Enter criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Olga Kurylenko) who investigates the claims of the accused and before you can say “Frederick Krueger” she discovers that ol’ Mara is a demon that murders people in their sleep. As our heroine presses on she discovers the deceased attended a support group for sufferers of sleep paralysis, and when she takes it upon herself to attend a meeting she finds that the participants all seem to be haunted by Mara (who marks her prey with one hell of a case of pink eye) who is offing them one by one while they get their snooze on. Sure as shit, ol’ Fear Fightin’ Fuller finds her self marked by our sleep stalker and the race is on to

The Travel Channel‘s new series “Haunted Live”, starring the paranormal investigative team The Tennesse Wraith Chasers, is set to premiere on September 14 at 10 ET/PT. The Tennessee Wraith Chasers, who travel the country investigating things that go bump in the night, include founding member and lead investigator Chris Smith, team leader Steven “Doogie” McDougal along with Scott Porter who serves as the team’s historian as well as a researcher, investigator Brannon Smith, and Mike Goncalves. The team also hunted the paranormal on the Travel Channel’s series “Haunted Towns”. Ahead of “Haunted Live’s” debut as part of the Travel Channel’s Ghostober spooktacular, we had a chance to talk with Chris and Doogie about some of their experiences and about what “Haunted Live” will bring to fans. Not long ago I talked about the upcoming surreal sci-fi game “Elea”. The game’s developers, Kyodai and Sodesco were kind enough to allow me the chance to review the game early before its September 6th release. The game itself is an episodic adventure telling the story of Elea, who’s on a journey through space to find her husband who’s gone missing along with his crewmates on a mission to find a new planet to colonize and now his ship was found but is mysteriously going through a quarantine procedure. After completing the first chapter it should be noted that the story I’ve played will be updated on launch day with a different beginning since I don’t know exactly how much of a change there will be, I’ll forgo focusing too much on the narrative I encountered in my playthrough. The main thing that blew me away was the graphics! Nicely detailed and textured, the colors are amazing and fit well

Adam (Riley Egan) is kind of shit at being a career artist when he finally finds his muse…like literally; the dude finds the Celtic version of a muse and she’s all magical and shit. So he becomes a great artist thanks to her witchy ways, but it all comes with a price; namely she’s a tad over protective of our hero and turns into a murder machine whenever her place in Adam’s life is threatened. So what is A-man going to do; turn a blind eye to the psychotic episodes and just ride high on his new found fortune n’ glory, or will he end her wicked reign? Not going to lie; Muse is one straight up beautiful motion picture to behold; cinematographer Damian Horan along with writer/director John Burr know how to frame a scene for maximum aesthetic impact, that’s for sure; and that helped the finished fright flick look much more expensive than it actually was. The groundbreaking horror games that helped bring in a new era of first-person horror gaming is coming to the Xbox One. “Amnesia Collection” came out in 2016 for PlayStation 4 but the release date for the XB1 is yet to be announced. The collection will include “Amnesia: The Dark Descent”, the expansion story “Amnesia: Justine”, and the sequel “Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs” The game series involves exploration, stealth, puzzle solving, and hiding mechanics that inspired other games that adopted the non-combat first-person horror experience which was originally seen in third-person games like the “Clock Tower” series but the first-person concept was eventually redefined in the legendary “P.T.”.

Netflix is gearing up to give viewers a frightastic Halloween this year. In fact, the streaming giant has just revealed the premiere date for their new genre series “The Haunting of Hill House” as well as the first batch of images. The new adaptation of Shirley Jackson‘s novel Hill House centers on a family in both modern day and in the past as they face ghosts both of their past and the kind that go bump in the night. Created, directed and executively produced by Mike Flanagan (Gerald’s Game, Oculus), the series stars Michael Huisman, Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth Reaser, and Henry Thomas. “The Haunting of Hill House” premieres on October 12, 2018.

Lit Prof. Samuel Salomon (now there’s a name that would make ol’ Stan Lee green with envy that he didn’t thunk of it first…oh, and he’s played by Elliot Cowan) is one grief stricken mother fucker. You see, a year ago his girlfriend bought the farm and he hasn’t been able to work since! Along with that major bummer, he keeps having nightmares of a mystery woman gettin’ hers at the hands of some arcane acolytes during one of your occult rituals that the kids dig so much these days. Things are going Lovecraft for horror games it seems! Frogwares and Bigben Interactive will be taking players to the city of Oakmont in “The Sinking City”. The game takes place in the 1920’s and the city of Oakmont is, well…sinking, but that’s not the worst of it. The citizens are being tormented by supernatural forces and creatures coming from the water. You take on the role of a detective who is going through personal issues (like most detectives in these kinds of stories) and venturing into the city is not helping. “The Sinking City” is an open world game where you have to travel to different locations by boat. There are side missions along with the main quest, all of which can be completed in a multitude of ways. Seeing disturbing things will make the player loose sanity for a bit. The best part is fans of the works of Lovecraft can see many Easter eggs in relations to Lovecraft’s

The highly anticipated RPG game of the year, “Call of Cthulhu: The official Video Game”, released a new trailer at the gaming event GAMESCOM. The trailer highlights key gameplay mechanics accompanied by commentary explaining in detail how your actions can affect the outcome of the game. “Call of Cthulhu: The official Video Game” is based on the tabletop RPG that’s inspired by the short story of the same name by H.P. Lovecraft. The story follows Edward Pierce, a private detective investigating the death of the Hawkins family on the fictional Darkwater Island. The more Pierce digs deeper into the case, the more horrors beyond human comprehension he’ll encounter.
