The Conjuring universe expands this September with The Nun, directed by Corin Hardy. Today, we have the first official image from the movie, which is a spinoff of James Wan’s The Conjuring 2. The trailer should be released shortly. “When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. A real estate development firm plans on opening up one of your fancy-ass 5 star resorts on a beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean, but as fate (and the fright flick rulebook) would have it things aren’t going to go smoothly with that lil’ bit of business. While most of the property is gorgeous A.F., there just so happens to be an abandoned WWII bunker on the property. Flying in the face of common sense, the firm’s agent and their island guides head on in to map out this foreboding structure…and guess what? Residents in Sante Fe, Argentina are on edge after a mysterious half-man half-wolf creature killed a Pitbull and a German Sheppard. The creature had its picture taken while it was leaving the scene. This is where things get weird…well more suspicious. After lurking around the dark web all signs seemed to point to a youtube channel called UFOMania. Before I decided to become a writer, I went to school studying Animal Management, learn about animals, the science behind studying them, and Animal Husbandry (taking care of them in a zoological setting), so my interest perked and I wanted to take a closer look at this “creature”. From looking at its limbs, head shape, and posture, I began to think that this creature looked like a hairless emaciated bear which would explain why it would attack two dogs. Crazed scientist Dr. Anton Lupesky has for some baffling reason created a drug that frees the soul from the body and lets it inhabit any given corpse, as long as it possess eyes. That sounds pleasant…but wait, it get’s worse. You see the drug also gives the user hellacious hallucinations and drives them batshit bonkers. While that bit of biz is going on, an intrepid reporter is hot on the Dr.’s heels as she feels he may have had something to do with the death of her father…but mostly she smokes a lot and randomly bangs on typewriter keys. Along the way we thrill to people wanting to rent videotapes, random serial killers, Lovecraftian pseudo-science, buckets and buckets of blood and gruesome gore, a jingle-jangle soundtrack, a zombie that appears to be practicing for the Cunnilingus Olympics, and most importantly rampaging Long Island accents! Stop me if you’ve heard this one; a young family gets a great deal on a beautiful home due in no small fact that the previous owner murdered his family in cold blood after being acted upon by some sort of demonic force…and wouldn’t you know it, the new patriarch starts hearing the same voices and begins thinking his family would look better inside an oblong box. That’s House on Elm Lake in a nutshell…it’s also The Amityville Horror, so you’ve definitely seen what this film has to offer…so why should you give it your time and/or money? You shouldn’t. It’s boring, tedious, filled with sub-par acting and dodgy effects, and it’s idea of scaring the audience is to amp up the volume of the soundtrack, or have a character scream. But, I’m not the type of guy to not have something positive to say about the film, so here goes; thank the powers that be that this film runs

This March watch as Zak Bagans and his team enter “The Demon House” to document the supernatural events that made the house grab headlines over the past few years. The documentary’s trailer has now been released, but it gives you a strong warning to “watch at your own risk”, that “it’s cursed. “Written, directed, and produced by the “Ghost Adventures” leader. the documentary features Bagans along with Father Michael Maginot and Dr. Barry Taff. Demon House was produced also by Joseph Taglieri and Mike Dorsey, and Jay Wasley. The small house on Carolina Street, in Gary, Indiana looks normal from the outside, but there have been over 800 pages of reports of intense paranormal activity and even possession. Even the Captain of the Gary Police Department swears that the house is haunted. Various Mediums and Psychics have stated that the house is infested with hundreds of demons and ghosts. On the skids psychologist James Fonda (Richard Neil…who we recently interviewed right here) is called in to one of your garden variety top secret government facilities by an old classmate named Olivia (Jolene Andersen) to assist in examining Ellie (Savannah Liles) a whip smart telekinetic girl. Of course those that run the facility want to carve Ellie up like a Christmas goose to see what makes her so damn special. Making excellent use of a small cast and only a handful of locations (4 by my count, with interiors used to clinical and claustrophobic perfection), Prodigy is an impressive low budget sci-fi thriller. Neil and Liles deliver strong performances, their relationship grows believably, and the plight of young Ellie is an engaging one (if a bit derivative of King’s Firestarter here and there…minus the fire of course), and contains both strong emotional content, well-done visual effects to illustrate our young protagonists psychic powers,and a mounting tension as her fate looks

The new The Grudge reboot now has a summer release date. Nicolas Pesce, the filmmaker behind 2016’s The Eyes of My Mother, wrote the latest version of the script penned by Jeff Buhler. Andrea Riseborough, Demian Bichir, John Cho, and horror icon Lin Shaye are starring in the remake of the 2004 film which was a remake itself of Japan’s Ju-On (2002). It will begin filming the May in Winnipeg. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, Nathan Kahane, Erin Westerman, Schuyler Weiss, Roy Lee, Doug Davison, John Middleton, and Andrew Pfeffer are producing. The Grudge will arrive in theaters on August 16th, 2019.

Originally released on these shores as Horror Hotel (Misfits fiends, take note!), City of the Dead is the tale of Nan Barlow (Stevenson), a young co-ed who travels to New England to investigate witchcraft at the behest of her college professor (Lee). Upon arriving in the small town of Whitewood things are rather bizarre; but it goes from bad to worse when Nan is marked for sacrifice by a coven of witches. Now that sounds like my kind of vacation, my creeps! Dripping with atmosphere and rich Gothic overtones, The City of the Dead is a “can’t miss” fright flick classic! Fog enshrouded locales, dilapidated buildings, graveyards, sinister locals, arcane ceremonies — this one has got all you crave from the “old guard” style of horror storytelling. In August of 2017 indie-game developer Ninja Theory released on PlayStation 4 and PC, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The game was so popular on PS4 and PC it earned high praises from both critics and players alike as well as winning nine awards! With this success, Ninja Theory expanded the game’s potential and will release it on Xbox One on April 11th, 2018! I’ve been granted the honor by Ninja Theory to review it before it hit’s selves. All I can say now is you need to get this game! The game is heavily influenced by ancient Celtic culture along with Norse mythology, that’s enough right there to make you throw your wallets at the screen right now. The game revolves not just on the culture and mythology but on our heroine Senua’s mental health, Ninja Theory worked closely with mental health experts to make this part of the experience as real as possible, this is where the game is unique.
