The Augmented Reality Smartphone gaming app Krikey partnered up with Sony Pictures to bring the villains from “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” into our world. The first of three AR games came out on Monday featuring Slappy, the evil ventriloquist dummy in the game mode, “Trap Slappy Challenge” where you must try to trap the doll back in his book before time runs out! The game mode is a lot like “Tetris” where the blocks are made up of R.L Stein’s “Goosebumps” books, the series has sold over 400 million copies! This addition to the game’s app will put folks in the spirit leading up to the film’s release on October 12th. You can download the Krikey app from the App Store and Google Play.

Michael Myers returns to Haddonfield this October in David Gordon Green’s Halloween, picking up 40 years after John Carpenter’s 1978 classic. Prepare for the highly-anticipated release and celebrate the icon that is Michael Myers with Fright-Rags‘ official Halloween 2018 merchandise. Michael Myers stalks onto seven T-shirts, which feature new designs as well as official artwork. Select designs are available on zip-up hoodies, baseball tees, and women’s shirts. There are also four enamel pins, including a closet door that opens to reveal “The Shape” inside it. The Halloween 2018 collection is on sale now at Fright-Rags.com. October 9 is the last day to place an order and receive it in time for the film’s release on October 19th. I’ve wanted to review the new “Amnesia Collection” that’s out now on Xbox One, but I wanted to give the main game “Amnesia: The Dark Descent” a fair review since it’s been out for years and many opinions and reviews were already made about it, so here we go. You play as a man named Daniel, an explorer who awakens in a castle with no memory of how he got there but finds a trail of liquid that he follows and soon discovers clues to his past. He was cursed after an encounter with a mystical orb on an expedition. As the curse of a shadow haunts him he seeks help from a baron named Alex, who’s been experimenting with the orbs that have otherworldly powers that either allows those in control of it to travel different plains of existence or immortality. There’s big changes’ coming for the video game featuring everyone’s favorite hockey mask wearing killer. Sadly before you get excited, sorry, there’s no new content coming out for “Friday the 13th: The Game”, see this previous article for details. Illfonic, the indie game developer that was partnered with Gun Media will be handing over the reins to Tokyo based indie game developer, Black Tower Studios. Black Tower Studios was formed in 2012 and have two RPG games under their belt with “Archangel” and “Magus“. The development team is made up of veterans of the gaming industry. Over the past year, Illfonic and Black Tower Studios have been working together leading up to the gradual transition. Both sides worked on creating the Pinehurst and Jarvis House maps/levels. Black Tower Studios main focus, once they are settled in, will be fixing bugs and glitches in the game along with other projects to help improve the player experience as well as maintenance of

Coming tomorrow (September 28th, 2018) Xbox One fans will be able to play the horror gaming experience, “Amnesia: The Dark Descent” as it arrives at the console but it’s not coming alone! “Amnesia Collection” will include all three titles from the series including the DLC story “Amnesia: Justine”, and the sequel “Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs”. The first person horror game takes players on a journey into madness as players must balance keeping the protagonist’s sanity level down while trying to explore their surroundings, having to rely on tinderboxes (matches) and lamp oil (for your trusty lamp) to light the way and help you feel safe. There’s a twist to the game’s arrival on XB1 as it will include a new difficulty mode for “Amnesia: The Dark Descent”, a hard mode. The developers wanted to take a different approach to tell the game’s story by not focusing so much on the violence and gore but having the players in a constant state of panic with the random unscripted encounters with the game’s antagonists. “The Conjuring House” will take players to a haunted house where from start to finish you’ll be in a constant state of panic as non-linear progression to the story will spell out unpredictable encounters with enemies while you look over your should constantly to avoid being discovered by the demonic entity of a woman with murderous intent! One of the most enjoyable aspects of playing role-playing games (RPGs) is the ability to create an avatar of you to go on perilous adventures may they involve lifting curses, protecting villages from bandits, stealing relics from trolls, or befriending a dragon to fulfill a prophecy. Sometimes people have trouble coming up with a believable character or find it difficult to really “know” their character which may make their character not enjoyable to fellow RPG adventurers. James D’Amato’s book “The Ultimate RPG Character Backstory Guide” will help you bring your character(s) to life! After reading this book I see it’s more than a “how to” book, it’s an interactive tome that makes creating your character fun and unique! If you’re new to the whole RPG world like me, don’t be afraid of this book! Each chapter is based off skill level, just like RPG games you start from level 1 and work your way up as you gain more experience!

Just like the sudden and dramatic exit of your favorite character on “The Walking Dead”, the same shocking end has come to the developers of “Telltale’s The Walking Dead” as of this afternoon around 90% of staff was laid off from Telltale Games, the developer of the hit TWD games, and “The Wolf Among Us”. Friday started with 250 employees and ended with 225 seeking employment elsewhere. Due to the sudden “Red Wedding” surprise has now put the remainder of TWD final season in jeopardy as episode 2 will be coming out in a couple of days. Among other projects that are now in limbo (in the gaming industry, it means Canceled) is “The Wolf Among Us 2” and a “Stranger Things” game. The story is currently developing.

Recently I wrote an article about the bundling of the two horror narrative games, “Layers of Fear” and “>Observer_”. The games’ developer Bloober Team gave me access to play both of their groundbreaking games for one epic review! Since this is a double review, I’m splitting the games up to avoid confusion and the last couple of paragraphs will be my final thoughts on both games. “Layers of Fear” is about a painter in the midst of the mental breakdown and his obsession over his latest art piece that he hopes will put him back on top. After you start looking at your latest work, that’s when the terror starts. As you explore the house, hallucinations begin to take over of paint drenched hallways, malformed specters, and artifacts that reflect your troubled past as you try to explore for answers only have your senses toyed with by the other side.
