Norwegian game developer Rock Pocket Games is sending gamers to Mars where Lovecraftian horrors await in ‘Moons of Madness’. The game is a first-person psychological horror story where players take on the role of astronaut Shane Newhart who encounters supernatural events at the first research station on the red planet. The game takes a twist on the insanity element of the game where developers came up with a “Zone-Out” mechanic where players see through Shane’s eyes a mix of Shane’s past, events that have not happened yet or things Shane should not know but now does. These Zone-Out events are to add to the anxiety of the game for players making them question what information they are getting from these unique hallucinations are real or not. Keeping with true Lovecraft elements, when humanity thinks it understands the universe it throws a horrific curveball, exploring the unknown without really being prepared for it, ‘Moons of Madness’ is set to be released

Before there was Annabel, there was a doll dressed like a little sailor living in Key West Florida. Why say he’s “Living” in Key West? Many believe that the straw-filled toy is, in fact, alive due to malevolent supernatural forces. Robert was given to a boy, also named Robert, by a house servant in the 1900’s, since then Robert’s family would hear Robert talking to the doll and thought Robert would talk back to himself, changing his voice, but Robert would claim it was the doll talking. ‘Ad Infinitum’ means again and again in the same way; forever. Kind of along the lines of the saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” That seems to be hinting at what’s going to happen to players when they play StrixLab’s upcoming survival horror game, ‘Ad Infinitum’. According to the StrixLap website, the game takes place in a trench during the First World War but there are horrific creatures stalking around in them. While playing in first person, you have to solve puzzles, avoid traps and of course, avoiding the creatures whiles the lines of insanity and the horrors of war become blurred. The game is set to be released for PC and possibly for Console, the release date is unknown at this time but after seeing the trailer, I hope it’s soon and does make it to console!

The Sites Rotten Tomatoes ruined the summer 2017 boxoffice. The New York Times published this article on film review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes (read here). The site has been around almost twenty years. I was first introduced to it back in 2003-2004. As the Internet gained more of a foothold, Rotten Tomatoes expanded its base; and now, according to this article, its power to influence box office performance. Sounds like those parents who subscribe to the “not my kid” mentality. Couldn’t possibly be US, it has to be the school, society…anyone but us and the bad product we made. I wrote a similar article, which could be a companion piece (here) a few months earlier when another finger pointing article on RT got some press. Can a website that amasses critical reviews have so much impact on a film’s box office performance? Hollywood spins it both ways whenever convenient. As is the case with most of you, my Little Monsters, I am eagerly awaiting the upcoming release of cinematic fare by that Master of the Macabre, Stephen King. We have The Dark Tower coming out on August 4th and IT which is due out on September 8th. But four iconic King horror films will also be released as a collection somewhere in between these two highly anticipated theatrical releases. The 1979 adaptation of Salem’s Lot, Stanley Kubrick’s film version of The Shining, King’s second anthology film, Cat’s Eye, and the original 1989 mini-series adaptation of IT are being compiled for a Blu-ray collection called the “King og Horror Collection”. Granted, each of these adaptations have already been released independently, but such a collection would be a great way to get all the films in one place and would also make a perfect gift to provide newer fans a look at how some of King’s nightmarish stories have been translated

Critical Thinking Cynema is not a film review series. Ghostbusters 2016 got a lot of shit before it was released. This article is a companion piece to my previous “Critical Thinking” essay. Ghostbusters 2016 is not funny and as a result I will argue that it’s really not a movie. The trailer holds a record for most negative comments on YouTube. There is a reason for this, however, the venomous personal attacks against one of its stars, Leslie Jones, were unwarranted and inexcusable. All of that aside, I am going to use Cynema to explain with critical thinking, why this film was a failure and arguably not a true film. Ghostbusters 2016, Answer the Call, whatever…is another studio bait and switch. This has nothing to do with a female cast. It’s not a racial thing. So let’s get the misogyny and race baiting out of the way. Ghostbusters 2016 wouldn’t have been funny even if the original actors starred. Does

Asif Ghafoor, the founder and CEO of Spacious, an online real estate company in Hong Kong, was inspired by Pokemon Go and augmented reality to create the app that reveals potentially haunted places and tells you how people at the location died.
