Or as I like to call it “BLOPS TRES”. “Call of Duty Black Ops 3” is the latest installment in the long running series. What started out as the original WW2 shooter became the highly innovative modern shooter and has now become the financial juggernaut of first person shooters but because of this the originality in the series has been dwindling over the past few years and although “BLOPS TRES” promised to reinvigorate the series it unfortunately has not and instead is another dry installment to add to the ever growing collection of boring games that is the “Call of Duty” series. “Thief” where do I begin? “Thief” is a 2014 reboot of the PC exclusive stealth series of the same name that was popular back in the 90’s. The series was loved for it’s open world, innovative stealth mechanics and a likable main protagonists. Unfortunately publisher Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal threw all that out and replaced it with black archaic background #246980, strange game-play and generic grisly archetype #410. As I am writing this review I am listening to Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” which only makes me more depressed to write this review because I really liked the “Thief” series. the original series came out at around the time first person shooters were starting to evolve. We got some of the biggest most influential shooters to date! “DOOM”, “Half Life”, “Halo” and “Thief” , not only did this game have nostalgia credit behind itself but it also had a really good developer handing it. It’s Not A Remake The Thing, 2011, is NOT a remake. It is a prequel. I just did more than the entire Universal Studios marketing department with that clarification. John Carpenter got royally screwed on his 1982 masterpiece. Some call The Thing his greatest film. Others, like me, call it one of the greatest films ever made for any genre. Carpenter’s film was buried in 1982 by a candy pilfering alien and Spielberg. Between a lackluster marketing campaign by Universal Studios and America’s pop sugar desire for heart glowing aliens, The Thing, 1982, never really had a chance. Carpenter himself saw the handwriting on the wall after exiting a plane to giant advertisements for ET: The Extraterrestrial. “We’re done,” he lamented. However home video and cable gave his film a new life, and eventually the tortoise caught up and passed the alien. Today, Carpenter’s film is regarded as timeless and as mentioned, by many, his best. One of the scariest games of all time is getting a sequel! Although it was teased last year it wasn’t until this morning where Canadian game developer Red Barrels confirmed that they are making a sequel to their successful survivor horror game “Outlast” nicely titled “Outlast 2”. Not much information has been released other then that this game will deal with the fallout of the events of the first game and that the night vision camera will return. “Outlast” was a first person survival horror game that had you playing a photojournalist tipped off by an unnamed source that very “evil” things are happening at an asylum up in Colorado. Once you arrive there you discover something far beyond evil is happening and now you must run and hide for your life and escape the horrors of the asylum. I’m going to be writing a review for the game tomorrow so if you are interested in “Outlast” definitely check back

Paramount owns some, you own some. Some are parceled out to TV while the films retain others and the characters. I’ve heard one tale that both studios share custody over the franchise like a divorced couple. I have no idea if this is true. What I do know is that the ownership of rights has become so convoluted that no one seems to have a definitive answer. The legal octopus is strangling you from making another killing and I’m willing to bet it could be straightened out. “V has come to” is how the game begins. Such a simple phrase and yet has so much behind it. Minutes after “V has come to” the game ascends and shows us what we have in store. Big Boss, our main protagonist awakens from a 9 year coma in a hospital in Cyprus missing an arm and having a large chunk of shrapnel lodged in his head, Big Boss’ awakening is only cut short when the hospital is invaded by a covert military force dubbed “XOF” on the hunt to kill him. With the help of a mysterious man named “Ishmal” Big Boss is able to escape a narrow death. Soon later the halls of the hospital begin to fill with smoke and fire when suddenly a man covered in head to toe in fire arrives in the hospital and begins searching for Big Boss. The Man on Fire has Big Boss in his clutches until the “XOF” force returns

To Clear A Few Things Up A few myths need to be dispelled about the 1980 Robin Williams film, Popeye. It was NOT a boxoffice failure. It was made for 20 million and grossed well over 60 million. While deemed a “disappointment” by Paramount Pictures, it hardly failed. 2. It is NOT Robin Williams’s worst film. I will argue it is his best, hands down. Like Williams and its director, the film paid a price for breaking away from formula. Popeye is fucking art, so there, I said it. Popeye fought Cynema and lost the first few battles, but I think it won the war. It was Robin Williams’s first film, and almost his last. It’s been called a mess, incomprehensible, a misfire, a disaster and a bomb. Bear with me as I show how this unique film stands up against Cynema. Jordache Horror Somewhere in the 80s, someone got the idea that horror should be less frightening and more sexy and trendy. I am not sure where it happened, but a good starting point might be Michael Jackson’s Thriller. The “World Premiere Video” back when MTV aired videos and before its implosion was the thing to see. Director John Landis was in between the smash hit horror classic, An American Werewolf in London and the public relations nightmare of Twilight Zone: The Movie. Michael Jackson was truly The King of Pop, and his LP, Thriller elevated MTV into something else…exactly what, I don’t know, but Thriller was more than a video. It was a pop culture event and it used horror as its spring board. Vincent Price became known to a the Pepsi Generation as “the old dude who “rapped” in Thriller and laughed at the end.
