Most of you remember the 2007 film ‘The Mist’ directed by Frank Darabont and starring Thomas Jane, which was based on Stephen King’s novella about a mysterious mist that crept across a small town and the strange beasts in the mist that made meals out of the unfortunate residents that ventured outside. Deadline announced the news this afternoon that The Weinstein Company and Dimension Television are banding together to develop a television series based on ‘The Mist’, reportedly with the blessing of Stephen King. The series will be written by Christian Torpe, The series will tell an original story about a mist that creeps into a small town and unleashes havoc and psychological terror as the residents fight to survive the supernatural things inside the mist and each other. In the opening scenes of many horror movies we’ve seen “Based on True Story” and it always seems to make the movies even more creepy. The Conjuring, Annabelle, Wolf Creek and An American Haunting are just a few examples. There are many other movies influenced by true stories, but here are a few of my favorites. Jaws This summer horror classic was inspired by a series of shark attacks that took place over twelve days along the Jersey Shore in 1916. Five people were attacked, only one survived. In July of that summer a seven foot Great White was caught. When the fisherman cut it up the middle body parts fell out of it’s stomach. The attacks stopped after the Great White was killed. A Nightmare On Elm Street Wes Craven has stated that he was inspired to write ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ by a series of articles in the LA Times in 1984 about two men from South

The Walking Dead is preparing for what is rumored to be the most brutal season yet. We don’t know (and we don’t want to) what this season will hold, but over the past few months they have added several cast members. The latest actor to join the cast is veteran actor Xander Berkeley. Berkeley has had roles in movies such as ‘Terminator II’ and ‘Candyman’, as well as a reoccurring role on the series ‘Salem’. Berkwley will be playing a villain. Don ‘t worry, it’s not Negan, the biggest and baddest of villains. Berkley’s character is said to be egotistical and out for number one. AMC is keeping much of the character’s info hush hush and we’re not sure if his character is already inside Alexandria. Be sure to tune in October 11th to AMC for the 90 minute premier of season 6.

The October premier of The Walking Dead is approaching, AMC has released a horde of cast photos. If you look closely you will notice the confusion and fear on the faces of our favorite characters. You will notice that Daryl has blood on his hands, Rick and Morgan aren’t giving each other pleasant looks and Carol has a new toy. Things are going to get messy this season and as always, we will loose a few of our favorite characters. Don’t miss the premier on October 11th!

Earlier this year American Horror Story Fans were saddened to learn that Jessica Lange would not be returning to the show for this up coming season ‘Hotel’. Lange had informed the show’s fans at the end of last season (Freak Show) that the season would be her last, but it seems she’s had a change of heart. Lange will be checking into the American Horror Story Hotel. Jessica Lange and Ryan Murphy Lange has won many awards for her roles throughout AHS’s multiple seasons, including a Golden Globe and two Emmy Awards. Ryan Murphy let it slip during an interview with Entertainment Weekly a while back that he had been talking with Lange about her return. “I’ve been talking to her. It’s always possible. I’m trying to deal with her play schedule. Jessica is always about the character. She’ll be back – she’s not gone forever. But that’s the fun and fresh thing about the show: sometimes somebody has to

The short film ‘Foxed!’ has had such a successful run at festivals and has been so well received that David Cronnenberg has decided to adapt it into a feature film, with Martin Katz producing. James E.D. Stewart directed ‘Foxed!’ along side Nev Bezaire, who also penned the film. Athena Karkanis lends her voice to the main character Emily and the mother’s voice belongs to actress Fiona Highet. In ‘Foxed’ a little girl named Emily is kidnapped by foxes and forced to slave away in a mine beneath her home. When she finally has a chance to run she finds her way to a two-way mirror. On the other side she can see her mother at home talking the fox that has replaced her. The short stop-animation film is dark and is not designed with children in mind. It tackles a dark subject and does it well. Even though the film is short I was left thinking about it for days.

This year I represented the ZADF at Dragon Con. It was no great imposition. I was going anyway. I go every year. The only real difference is this year I’ll be writing about it. I’m guessing that many of you have never heard of Dragon Con, and are probably wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Have you heard of Comic Con in San Diego? You probably have. It has become a huge event every year that draws massive crowds and gets national media coverage. What many people don’t realize, is that Comic Con is just one of many Cons. There are conventions devoted to comic books, video games, table top gaming, fantasy, science fiction, anime, and of course horror; then there is Dragon Con. Dragon Con covers all of those things and more. It takes place in Atlanta, GA and has been around for a while (it started back in 1987). I’ve been attending since I was a kid

The Guinness World Record for the largest collection of Swamp Thing memorabilia consists of 797 unique items and belongs to illustrator and designer John E. Boylan (USA). His collection was verified in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA on March 21 2015. I was fortunate enough to be able to ask Guinness World Record Holder, John E. Boylan, a few questions for this interview and he was gracious enough to provide me with some great answers. STG What inspired your passion to collect all things Swamp Thing? JEB “Good storytelling, other Swamp Thing fans, and enough oddball collectibles to stay intrigued. I was drawn to Swamp Thing, like many I imagine, by the beautiful art and writing. Once I started collecting single issues and chatting with other Swampy fans, I wondered what else was out there relating to Swamp Thing and found a bunch of great collectibles like, chalk, pencil sharpeners and furry slippers. Since Swampy isn’t the most popular/well known
