Winona Rider has been cast in a new supernatural Netflix original series titled ‘Montauk’. The ‘Beetlejuice’ actress will be playing Joyce, a single mother. Joyce has to find the strength to keep going when her son goes missing. She will fight tooth and nail to get her son back from supernatural forces.
The eight episode supernatural thriller is set in Long Island in the 1980’s. When Joyce’s two year old son disappears the much of the town’s residents chip in to uncover the truth behind the the boy’s disappearance, government experiments and a very odd little girl.
The new series is both written and directed by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer. The Duffer brothers are also both writers for the show ‘Wayward Pines’. Karl Gajdusek, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen all serve as executive producers for ‘Montauk’.
The series is set to premier some time in 2016.
