Graphic Novel Adaptation Of Stephen King & Owen King’s ‘Sleeping Beauties’ Debuts This June

Stephen King and Owen King‘s bestselling 2017 novel Sleeping Beauties is being adapted into a new 10-part graphic novel by Rio Youers (The Forgotten Girl) and Alison Sampson (Winnebago Graveyard). In the thrilling story, “a strange sleeping sickness, known as Aurora, has fallen over the world, and strangest of all, it only affects women. In the small town of Dooling, a mysterious woman has walked out of the woods; she calls herself Eve and leaves a trail of carnage behind her. More mysterious: she’s the only woman not falling asleep.” The graphic novel’s art is incredible, truly frame-worthy. I really hope that at some point the covers are released as a series of posters. I’ve seen several of the covers, take my word for it, they’re gorgeous. If the rest of the series is anything like the first well written and illustrated book, we’re in for something special. But when the name King is involved you already know it’s going

Steelbook Review: One Cut Of The Dead Is One ZomCom You Need To Sink Your Teeth Into

Following its hit festival run, an accidental bootleg release on Amazon, a stint on Shudder, and its DVD release from RLJE, One Cut of the Dead has just gotten a Steelbook release. I happened to get my hands on one and I’m ready to hand down my verdict in this review. The film follows a cast and crew filming a tv episode that sets out to capture the story in one single take. As if that wouldn’t be hard enough on its own, the crew and cast encounter real zombies and have to fight to survive. Written and directed by Shin’ichirô Ueda (Special Actors), the zomcom stars Harumi Shuhama (Ichigo no uta), Takayuki Hamatsu (“Followers”), and Yuzuki Akiyama (“Kamen raidâ Jiô”) and is based on the play, “Ghost in the Box!” written by Ryoichi Wada. So, here’s what you need to know, the movie features three sections, first, we see the episode in its entirety; second, we see the producers

Merge Games Unveils Cyberpunk Shooter ‘Foreclosed’

Merge Games and Antab Studio have announced that they’re working on an upcoming shooter game that combines the neon-lit aesthetics of a cyberpunk world and the folding pages of a comic book. Inspired by the Deux Ex and Max Payne games along with Frank Miller’s graphic novel Hard Boiled comes the third-person shooter Foreclosed. In Foreclosed, players will take on the role of Evan Kapnos who has had their identity “Foreclosed”, which is like identity theft BUT the person now no longer exists. Face with this, Evan now must fight against the dehumanizing bureaucracy that took his identity before his identity and his cybernetic implants are auctioned off! Foreclosed will visually appear as a graphic novel with interactive cutscenes and smooth transitions making loading feel like it’s not there. Foreclosed is currently in development and is expected to be coming in 2021 to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Blu-ray Review: Horrors of Spider Island (1960)

Nightclub impresario Gary Webster (Alexander D’Arcy) has a wild hair up his ass about filling a club in Singapore with ladies from New York City. After auditioning a bevy of beautiful babes (via seeing them in various states of undress and dancing about), the whole motley crew boards a plane which promptly erupts in flame, rips in two, and plunges into the ocean, as planes often do. I’m guessing ol’ Webster saved a buck or two booking that particular airline. In a completely realistic fashion, the gang survived that ordeal, are set adrift on a life raft… and soon see a nearby island that could lead to salvation… or getting killed by giant spider monsters… as is usually the way of things. Look, if you even bothered to read the title of this review it’s no spoiler… it’s the latter, as before long our heroes discover a cabin with a human corpse stuck to a big-ass spider web… and soon

Blu-ray Review: The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (1971)

Down Vienna way, folks are turnin’ up all murdered-like left and right, ya dig? Into that fracas floats richie-rich American gal Julie Wardh (the absolutely jaw-dropping Edwige Fenech), who soon becomes a target of that malicious maniac mentioned previous via a series of ye olde blackmail letters. Now Jules ain’t a detective by any means, but she does have her suspicions as to just who that slasher could be… namely her ex-lover Jean (Ivan Rassimov), with whom she enjoyed a rough sexin’ good ol’ time… of course it could be her new lover George (George Hilton)… hell, it could even be her hubby Neil (Alberto de Mendoza)… “strange vice” my ass, her vice is fuckin’ like crazy… but I guess The Endless Fucking of Mrs. Wardh would have left viewers a bit confused as to the fact this is a horror picture… Anyway, will Julie and her extremely exhausted vagina survive the ordeal and ascertain just who the killer is

At Least 215 Victims: The Story of Dr. Harold Shipman

A successful doctor, vice-captain of his college athletics team, and devoted family man. Harold Frederick Shipman seemed to have it made. He had life figured out…on the surface. Shipman was born in Nottingham, England on 12 May, 1914. His devout Methodist parents were working-class citizens who raised their three children to be hard working, pillar members of their community. Tragedy struck when Shipman’s mother died of lung cancer when he was 17 years old. Shipman was very close with his mother and was often there to watch her doctors administer morphine to help ease her pain as she passed away. This medical treatment must have had an effect on the young man as it became his preferred method of murder years later. However, for now, Shipman’s life continued on track. On 5 November, 1966 he married Primrose May Oxtoby and they had four children together. Four years later he graduated from the Leeds School of Medicine, opened his own practice

Things Get Demented In The Trailer for ‘Homewrecker’

The critically acclaimed festival hit Homewrecker comes home on digital and DVD this summer. Linda lives alone and fills her days with painting and exercise classes. Seeking a new friend, Linda coerces the reserved, deferential Michelle into visiting her home for a spontaneous interior design consultation. Haunting New Trailer Debuts For ‘Relic’ Ahead Of July Release

The new trailer has arrived for writer-director Natalie Erika James‘ haunting horror film Relic ahead of its July release. When elderly mother Edna (Robyn Nevin) inexplicably vanishes, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) rush to their family’s decaying country home, finding clues of her increasing dementia scattered around the house in her absence. After Edna returns just as mysteriously as she disappeared, Kay’s concern that her mother seems unwilling or unable to say where she clashes with Sam’s unabashed enthusiasm to have her grandma back. As Edna’s behavior turns increasingly volatile, both begin to sense that an insidious presence in the house might be taking control of her. All three generations of women are brought together through trauma and a powerful sense of strength and loyalty to face the ultimate fear together.
