Movie Reviews (Blood in the Snow Film Festival): Puppet Killer and Dead Dicks (both 2019)
Canadian horror comedy Puppet Killer delivers in both the gore and gags departments. You know what you are in for pretty early on when the lead character, a high school student, is portrayed by a 50-year-old actor, taking the “they look to old to be high schoolers” trope to beyond its normal range. Aleks Paunovic toplines as that student, Jamie, who lost his mother (director Lisa Ovies) to cancer when he was a youngster. His stepmother tried to trash both his VHS horror movie collection that he watched with his mom and his beloved pink hand puppet Simon, and this being a fright flick, you can imagine how that turned out for her. Ten years later, Jamie and a group of his classmate friends plan to return to the cabin where the stepmother was slaughtered, against the wishes of his psychiatrist and reluctant father. Jamie’s girlfriend Jessie (Lisa Durupt) finds Simon hidden away, and after she brings him out, very

In other words, he’s a busy man. A jack of all trades I guess you’d say. Stan is mercilessly bullied by everyone in his life, but things are about to get worse. There’s something deadly in his shed. Horror Fuel: “How did the idea come about for the story?” Frank Sabatella: “The story about a vampire trapped inside a

Movie Review: The Shed (2019)
What do you get when you mix bullies and bloodthirsty vampires? You get Frank Sabatella’s indie horror film The Shed, from the producer of the Saw franchise. The film centers a teen named Stanley (Jay Jay Warren) whose back story is a heartbreaking one. Things go from good to bad to dreadful quick in the film when his parents die. Being a victim of abuse and bullying at both his new home and at school really makes you feel for the kid. When he finds something inhuman and hungry hiding in his shed all hell breaks loose. But Stanely’s not giving up on being a decent person without a fight. Besides being entertaining, the movie has a strong anti-bully message. Let’s be honest, bullies, both in real life and online are a real problem. Bullying can really damage a person, sometimes for life. So, repeat after me, don’t be a dick. Jay Jay Warren really brings his character to life.

Why is she so riled up? Well it seems that Corrine’s husband was her uncle, and those kiddos are straight up the byproduct of that ol’ family fav; incest! As Corrine suffers her mother’s punishments in order to fall back into the family good graces and inherit some serious coin; the kids explore the one place the have access to from their pseudo-prison; the attic… which they turn into a sanctuary of sorts.
