Blu-ray Review: Paganini Horror (1989)
After a piece of sheet music makes a young girl chuck a hairdryer into her mamma’s bath water we cut to a (mostly) female rock n’ roll outfit performing a song with almost the exact same melody as Bon Jovi’s You Give Love a Bad Name… and thus we begin the headlong plunge into cinematic insanity known as Paganini Horror! So that band? Well their management think they suck as of late… now if only they had something new they could play that would really appeal to every eager earhole world wide! Well as fate and a cameoing Donald Pleasence would have it, they are brought just such a piece; a forgotten work from the legendary Italian Violinist Paganini… I wonder if that could be that shit we saw earlier… nah! Anyway; our heroines trek out to a remote castle to film some slick-ass fright flick style “video clips” for their new masterpiece and before long are plunged into a

Atlanta’s Buried Alive Film Festival Offers Witches, Werewolves, and Weirdness
The 2019 edition of Atlanta’s Buried Alive Film Festival is chock full of outstanding, outrageous horror features and shorts from around the world. The fest is scheduled for November 13–17 at 7 Stages Theatre. Following are the features that I am most looking forward to seeing, either for the first time or once again. My thoughts in italics follow the fest’s official descriptions for each film. Antrum: The Deadliest Movie Ever Made Dir. Michael Laicini and David Amito – USA – 95min Antrum, a feature length film shot in the late 1970’s, is cursed. In 1988, a movie theatre in Budapest that was screening the film burnt to the ground, killing the 56 people who were in attendance. This incident follows the inexplicable deaths of a number of film festival programmers that had received Antrum as a submission and died shortly after watching the film. These events culminated with a riot during an exhibition in San Francisco, after which the

“The Haunting Of Bly Manor” Features Several Henry James Tales
Mike Flanagan has been teasing that the second season of his Netflix original series “The Haunting of Bly Manor” will be more frightening than the “The Haunting of Hill House” which was absolutely fantastic. Originally thought to just be an adaptation of Henry James’ “The Turn of the Screw,” Flanagan revealed to Games Radar that the series will also feature more of James’ tales. The thing I have access to, that no other adaptation of Turn of the Screw has, is the rest of Henry James’ ghost stories. I get to use all of them.” Flanagan continued, “The Turn of the Screw is only one of a dozen stories that we re telling. All Henry James; all thematically linked. I think of Turn of the Screw as the backbone of this season – the through line that carries us from beginning to end. But we get to go off into The Jolly Corner and The Romance of Certain Old Clothes,
