The Trouble With Eli Roth’s DEATH WISH
(NOTE: THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. IF YOU DON’T AGREE, I RESPECT THAT) Gun’s are cool, shooting bad guys is badass, and 6-chamber street justice is the name of the game in Eli Roth’s deeply problematic Death Wish. Initially delayed after the tragic Las Vegas shooting last October, Death Wish had the great misfortune of being released only a few weeks after the tragic shooting at Stonemason Douglas High school in Florida. It seems there’s too much gun violence in America to respectfully release a film celebrating gun violence. Well, that’s assuming it’s possible to respectfully release a film celebrating gun violence at all. The Charles Bronson led original, released back in 1974, hasn’t aged particularity well, but can at least be said to be a product of the times. What’s Eli Roth’s excuse, releasing a film in 2018 that is so unabashedly pro-murder, pro-vigilante, and generally misguided and ugly. Extended scenes of fictional violence has never been something that’s

The item that is garnering the most attention is a never before seen cut of ‘The Shining’ which is longer than any previously released cuts and includes a deleted scene that has never been seen by the public. “Long cut of the original film The Shining containing the scene in which Wendy, played by Shelley Alexis Duvall, carries Danny, played by little Danny Lloyd. These cuts, given by Kubrick to D’Alessandro, are particularly rare because the director notoriously burned all the leftovers at the conclusion of the editing.” The auction for this historic piece stars at $3,700. If you want even more ‘Shining’ love, the jacket worn by Jack Nicholson’s auction price starts at $12,000. The auction promises many items for a collection of Kubrick’s films. Movie Review: But Deliver Us From Evil is a Jumbled Mess of a Fright Flick
The biblical succubus Lilith returns in the modern age (and appears in Georgia) and begins murdering religious figures around town (and by murdering I mean seducing them and making them explode) which baffles the local police (though in truth constructing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich seems like it would be an insurmountable challenge to these geezers). Eventually our slinky antagonist makes her way to a local college campus and begins to stalk sad sack new student Jeremiah who’s lineage as a long lost offspring of a Pastor with the power to destroy the demon makes him a threat. Holy shit, But Deliver Us From Evil, you are one stinking piece of cinematic hot garbage! The whole affair seems like a series of random scenes stitched together with some sort of whisper of a plot thrown in…and about that plot; with it’s strong religious overtones was this film made for the church goin’ crowd? Well if so, there is a
