A Chilling Transformation is Underway in the New Poster for Robert Eggers’ ‘Werwulf’

who The new official poster for Robert Eggers’ Werwulf has finally clawed its way into the light. It gives us a first glimpse at a contorted transformation that promises a creature feature unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Eggers has revealed he is aggressively stripping away modern cinematic cliches and reconstructing the werewolf mythos from its primal, folk-horror roots. Set against the bleak, unforgiving backdrop of 13th-century England, the film follows an ancient apex predator stalking the countryside, turning medieval superstition into a horrifying, living nightmare. A Powerhouse Ensemble of Heavy Hitters True to form, Eggers has assembled an elite cast of favorite collaborators and powerhouse talent to navigate the dark ages. The film is led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp, hot off their work on Eggers’ Nosferatu. They are joined by Eggers’ favorite, Willem Dafoe, bringing back the unhinged, mad-eyed intensity of The Lighthouse. Ralph Ineson, whose gravelly, rumbling presence anchored The Witch, is also starring. Bodhi Rae Breathnach

Spoiler-Free Reviews: Ancestral Beasts and Home Bodies (Fantasia 2026)

Ancestral Beasts (Canada, 2026) Official Synopsis After cutting ties with her toxic sister, Elyse (Morgan Holmstrom) retreats to her rural ancestral home to rebuild her mental health. But a grotesque, centipede-like creature begins to stalk her, a physical manifestation of buried trauma. As it feeds on her emotional turmoil, Elyse must confront the past she tried to escape to save herself and those she loves. Review Morgan Holmstrom is excellent in Ancestral Beasts as Elyse, a Red River Métis woman who goes back to the family home where her mother committed suicide in an attempt to get away from her verbally abusive older sister Nikki (Darla Contois). Writer/director Tim Riedel takes Elyse on a riveting, harrowing journey in which a diabolical creature is a metaphor for mental illness, and Holmstrom nails her character in a role that certainly wouldn’t be easy to play. She portrays the different emotions through which her character goes winningly, and is reason enough to recommend

Movie Review – Troll (1986) – MVD Rewind Blu-ray

The Potter family; Harry (Larry Cohen regular Michael Moriarty, The Stuff) and Anne (former Charlie’s Angel Shelley Hack) along with their children Harry Jr. (Noah Hathaway, Battlestar Galactica, The Neverending Story) and Wendy Anne (Jenny Beck, the ‘80s V franchise) move into their new abode; an apartment building in San Francisco (though this was filmed in Italy… though we do get a fun matte painting of the Golden Gate bridge). As most apartment buildings in films are, this domicile is filled with crazy characters (besides Moriarty) such as Eunice St. Clair… a feisty elderly witch (the original Lost in Space’s June Lockhart… played in younger form by her daughter Anne… who was also in Battlestar Galactica) and her pet mushroom creature, a yuppie couple (real-life married duo Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Seinfeld and Saturday Night Live’s Brad Hall), a swinger (Sonny Bono of all people), a military/big game obsessed health nut (WKRP in Cincinnati’s Gary Sandy)… and an evil Troll named Torok

Movie Review: The Shark Thriller 'Chum' is Best Left Stranded at Sea

Shark Thriller ‘CHUM’ is Swimming onto Digital

If you thought the most agonizing part of a destination wedding was the price of a plane ticket. Well, Independent Film Company is here to offer some brutal perspective with CHUM. The survival thriller CHUM has now announced its UK release for August 17, 2026. It is a sun-drenched nightmare in which “something blue” refers entirely to the blood-soaked depths of the Mediterranean Sea. Till Death Do Us Part Imagine a pristine, high-end destination wedding on the breathtaking coast of Malta. The champagne is flowing. Vows are being eagerly exchanged, and the newlyweds are trying to put on a happy face. Then, a massive, bloodthirsty shark crashes the post-nuptial festivities. As if avoiding an apex predator in open water wasn’t bad enough, the wedding party is “rescued” by Roy (Jim Klock), a deeply unhinged local fisherman. Roy isn’t interested in being a Good Samaritan. He’s a psychopathic vigilante who has decided the wedding party makes for excellent live bait to

Black Madala Unveils the Trailer for the Folk Horror 'The Shug'

Black Madala Unveils the Trailer for the Folk Horror ‘The Shug’

Get ready for some deep-rooted, atmospheric dread, because the British countryside is about to get a whole lot meaner. Genre powerhouse Black Mandala has officially unveiled The Shug, an award-winning, haunting new folk-horror film from director Martin J. Pickering (The Only One). Blending supernatural terror with grounded emotional realism, the movie plunges viewers into a chilling modern mythos set against the fractured, bleak landscape of post-Brexit Britain. The most unsettling part? It’s not entirely fiction. The project draws its inspiration from alleged real-life sightings and a recorded interview with a woman who claims to have encountered the legendary “Shug Monkey”—a bizarre cryptid fixture of English folklore. Cryptids, Coors, and Deeply Buried Trauma The Shug delivers on the monster front. However, it uses its creature feature elements to dig into heavy thematic territory, exploring alcoholism, generational trauma, and family breakdown. The film stars Nicholas Clarke, Alice Henley, Mae Sutton, and Dean Kilby. Jack Armstrong, Jason Hall, and Funso Foluso-Henry round out

Keith Carradine Joins Brie Larson for ‘Skeltons,’ from the Director of Strange Darling

The monster movie renaissance is officially digging up some serious talent. Deadline reports that “Dexter” and “Fear the Walking Dead” alum Keith Carradine has joined the cast of Skeletons. It’s a highly anticipated new creature feature from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. Carradine joins Academy Award-winning Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) for the film described as a “modern, elevated take on the classic creature horror film.” The project is a major collaborative effort between Infrared, Bad Robot Productions, and Assemble Media. A Horrifying Domestic Secret The film is based on the acclaimed short story “Fail-Safe” by Bram Stoker Award-nominated author Philip Fracassi. Skeletons shifts the traditional monster-movie lens into the domestic sphere. The story is told entirely from the perspective of a young boy. He gradually realizes that his picturesque family life is a lie. However, as he digs deeper, he discovers that his parents are harboring a disturbing secret regarding his mother’s (Brie Larson) true, monstrous nature. Infrared President of
