Mike Flanagan's 'The Exorcist' Possesses a Premiere Date

Mike Flanagan Teaming Up with Blumhouse for a New “Exorcist” Movie!

Brilliant filmmaker Mike Flanagan, the mind behind chilling hits like Doctor Sleep and the creepy AF Netflix series “The Haunting of Hill House,” is set to terrify audiences with a brand new take on The Exorcist franchise. This won’t be a retread of familiar territory. Flanagan’s film will be a wholly original story set within the established Exorcist universe. This means no connection to the recently released critically and viewer-hosted sequel The Exorcist: Believer. Flanagan is no stranger to Blumhouse Productions. He previously directed critically acclaimed horror films like Oculus, Hush, and Ouija: Origin of Evil. Which were all under their banner, proving that the studio and director are a horror dream team. Both Flanagan and Blumhouse founder Jason Blum expressed enthusiasm for the project. Flanagan sees it as a tribute to the film that inspired him to become a filmmaker, while Blum is eager to see Flanagan’s fresh vision unfold. Flanagan states, “The Exorcist is one of the reasons

Mike Flanagan Taking Over the 'Exorcist' Trilogy?

Mike Flanagan Taking Over the ‘Exorcist’ Trilogy?

Last year’s The Exorcist: Believer crashed and burned, hated by critics and horror fans. But there is a glimmer of hope. According to Deadline, a major player in the genre is in talks to take over the planned trilogy. That director is none other than genre maestro Mike Flanagan. Flanagan has a long history of delivering incredible films. He’s behind films like Doctor Sleep and hit Netflix series like “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Midnight Mass,” and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” which premiered late last year. Flanagan is also behind multiple Stephen King adaptations, including the upcoming adaptation of Life of Chuck, starring Alexander Skarsgard. If anyone can save the trilogy, it’s Mike Flanagan. The search for a new director comes after David Gordon Green, behind the Halloween trilogy, stepped away. The reason was reportedly a conflict due to scheduling issues with other projects, but it may have something to do with the fact that the movie

Acclaimed Actors Join Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King Adaptation ‘Life Of Chuck’

There are two names in horror that make a perfect combination: Stephen King and Mike Flanagan. Flanagan, who has already adapted the King tales Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, is back with a new film based on a King story. The Life of Chuck by King was featured in his If It Bleeds. The project has begun to announce its killer cast, featuring Tom Hiddleston. As always, you can expect Flanagan regulars to return alongside new cast members. Mark Hamill, who also starred in his new fantastic series “The Fall of the House of Usher,” is set to star alongside Karen Gillan, who starred in Flanagan’s breakout film Oculus. Jacob Tremblay, who appeared in Doctor Sleep, returns for the new project. Flanagan first-timer Chiwetel Ejiofor has also joined the cast. The question is, will we see the return of Flanagan’s favorite, long-time cast members Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino, Rahul Kohli, Bruce Greenwood, and Kate Siegel (who is also his wife)?

Is Mike Flanagan Still Adapting Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower?'

Is Mike Flanagan Still Adapting Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower?’

Mike Flanagan is an expert when it comes to Stephen King adaptations, delivering chilling films like Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game. He also has a record of bringing horror fans fantastic series such as “The Haunting of Hill House.” His next King adaptation, a series based on The Dark Tower, will be a challenge. It’s been adapted before, in 2017, and was disliked by fans and critics alike. Often described as “unfilmable,” the source material is spread over eight books, featuring more than 4,000 pages, making it a challenging to fit a series format without multiple seasons. But that hasn’t detoured Flanagan, and if anyone can do it right, it’s him. With the strikes shaking up the film industry, leaving many films and series abandoned and delayed, people have begun to question if Flanagan’s “The Dark Tower” would be one of them. But Flanagan has not given up, and thankfully the strike is over. During a recent conversation with Fangoria,

Mike Flanagan’s Edgar Allen Poe Series “Fall Of The House Of Usher” Premiers This Fall

If there’s one thing you can count on when it comes to director Mike Flanagan, it’s quality, just look at his spooky-as-shit Netflix series “Haunting of Hill House” or one of his films. Well, he’s back (not that he ever left) with his new series, based on the tales of Edgar Allen Poe, titled “The Fall of the House of Usher.” The limited series from Intrepid Pictures features eight episodes, four that were directed by Flanagan and four by Michael Fimognari, who worked with Flanagan as cinematographer for “Haunting of Hill House” and directed several episodes of Flanagan’s new series “The Midnight Club.” “It’s crazy. It is unlike anything I’ve ever done, but in the other direction. My favorite way to describe it to people is like ‘Hill House’ is kind of a string quartet, and ‘Bly Manor’ is this delicate, kind of beautiful piece of classical piano music, and ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’ is heavy metal.

Movie Review: Mike Flanagan's Film Adaptation Of Stephen King's "Gerald's Game"

Movie Review: Mike Flanagan’s Film Adaptation Of Stephen King’s “Gerald’s Game”

Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game is now out on Netflix and I have some thoughts. In the film, Jessie and Gerald Burlingame are going to their secluded lake house on a weekend trip. Their marriage is strained, and their love life has turned stagnant, but Gerald has something in mind to reignite that old flame, as it were. They arrive at their home, and everything is ready: landscaping done, house cleaned and prepared, pantry and fridge are stocked. Now it’s time for a little “afternoon delight,” so Jessie puts on a new sexy slip that she bought especially for the occasion and waits for Gerald in the bedroom. He pops a little blue pill and cuffs her to the bed, and then the “game” begins. However, Jessie is not fond of the rough turn Gerald’s game takes and rebuffs his attempt to fulfill what is little more than a rape fantasy. She begs him to uncuff her,

Mike Flanagan Finds A New Home At Amazon, Inking New Exclusive Deal

The news came yesterday that filmmaker Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy‘s Intrepid Pictures has inked a new massive deal with Amazon Studios, meaning Flanagan and Macy are no longer working with Netflix. What does that mean for their Netflix series “The Midnight Club,” which follows a group of terminally ill kids telling scary stories? The series is now canceled after just one season. Flanagan and Macy’s upcoming series, “The Fall of the House of Usher,” based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe, will still air on Netflix. Flanagan and Macy’s move to Amazon Prime is a bit of a shock. The two have had massive success with Netflix, releasing exclusive series such as “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Midnight Mass” and more.
