Nick Cutter’s Horror Novel ‘The Troop’ To Be Adapted for a Feature Film

After years of lingering in development limbo, Nick Cutter’s stomach-churning 2014 novel The Troop is finally marching toward the big screen. Paramount Primal has officially acquired the rights to adapt the fan-favorite horror book. They have tapped screenwriter Chris Basler to bring the visceral, parasite-laden story to life. Horror maestro James Wan previously optioned the project through Atomic Monster. However, Paramount Primal is now steering the long-awaited feature. Scout Trips and Biological Terrors The story follows Scoutmaster Tim Riggs and a small group of young scouts. Spoiler-Free Reviews: Armageddon Road and Life at Sandy’s (Popcorn Frights)

Armageddon Road (Canada, 2026) Official Synopsis What happens in Vegas . . . might end the world. An ex-con with big dreams, Steve is hired to chauffeur a mob boss’ girlfriend for a night. He’s unaware that his passenger is dead and possessed by one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Review What an absolute blast writer/director Karen Lam’s 1970s-set Armageddon Road is! Steve McNaulty (Brian McCaig) is a down-on-his-luck Las Vegas dreamer who hopes to find the funding to turn a parking lot into a themed attraction building. Doing what he can just to try to make ends meet, he is given the job of chauffeuring mob boss’s moll Delilah (Natalie Grace) for the evening, but when — unbeknownst to him — she dies in a bathroom and a supernatural entity takes over her body, the night’s going to get progressively stranger. I don’t want to give away any more than that, because Armageddon Road is loaded with

From Westeros to Hogwarts: Kit Harington Joins Season 2 of "Harry Potter"

From Westeros to Hogwarts: Kit Harington Joins Season 2 of “Harry Potter”

HBO’s high-profile “Harry Potter” television series has officially secured its next Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington is stepping into the flamboyant robes of Gilderoy Lockhart for Season 2. He replaces Nicholas Hoult, who exited the production due to scheduling conflicts. The character, a famously vain wizard renowned for his grand tales of heroism that mask a complete lack of actual magical skill, plays a central role in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Lockhart was portrayed on the big screen by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 feature film adaptation. A Match Made in Wizarding History The casting marks a seamless transition for Harington. He voiced the very same pompous professor for Audible’s multi-cast Harry Potter audiobooks late last year. A self-proclaimed superfan of the franchise, Harington has shared that he fell in love with J.K. Rowling’s books as a child and has reread the series numerous times over the years. Reflecting on

Spoiler-Free Reviews: Focus and Nameless (Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival 2026)

Once again, our coverage of Bucheon International Film Festival (BIFAN) reviews is cowritten by Film Festival Editor Joseph Perry and Guest Contributing Writer Chris Weatherspoon. A man of the world, guest reviewer Chris Weatherspoon has lived in South Korea for “quite a bit.” A huge fan of all cinema, Chris also works locally in the entertainment industry, and knows what he is talking about . . . alright!? Focus (South Korea, 2026); review by Chris Weatherspoon Director Sim Gyu-ho’s Focus is a slowly unraveling ghost story about a man who can’t stop looking through a lens even when it’s costing him everything in front of it. The film opens on a campsite, where photographer Kim Eun-ho and his girlfriend Woo-jung are settling in for the night; a walk to borrow salt turns into something stranger, something the film wisely doesn’t explain. After the opening sequence, we learn that Eun-ho is a struggling photographer who has been with the same girlfriend,
