Anyone who really knows me is aware that I love special effects, so of course, I was really excited when I found out that SFX master Joe Castro had agreed to speak with me. Joe is the man behind the effects in horror and sci-fi films like Blood Feast II, Bonehill Road, The Dawnseeker, and The Haunting of La Llorona. But he’s not only any a special effects master, he’s also the director that brought us the Terror Toons franchise, Xenophobia, and many more. Joe sat down with me to talk about how he fell in love with filmmaking and effects, as well as some of his projects, and his journey. Horror Fuel: “How did you come to realize that you wanted to work in special effects?” Joe: “Basically, when I was seven-years-old, I was being babysat by my father who worked on a ranch in Texas. Review: Into The Dark: All That We Destroy

May is approaching which means it’s almost time for the next episode of Hulu’s “Into the Dark”. May’s episode, titled “All That We Destroy”, is a tale about the lengths a mother will go to to protect her son. Warning: spoilers ahead The episode opens with a young man dressing a woman as she sleeps. Instantly, there’s a sinister feel. As Ashley (Aurora Perrineau), the young woman, comes around Spence (Israel Broussard) quickly loses his temper and attacks her, strangling her before he bashes her head on the floor. This is where we learn that the mother is a scientist and the girl is a clone that she keeps creating to fulfill her sons need to kill. As Ashley is reborn again and again she begins to remember her original death at the hands of Spence. That’s where things get tricky. This episode is very different from the previous ones we’ve seen from “Into the Dark”. It’s more muted, more

Shudder Acquires Award-Winning Film ‘Tigers Are Not Afraid’

The opportunity to have Tigers Are Not Afraid among them is an absolute honor.” Lopez’s film combines horror and fantasy to deliver a moving portrait of the dire circumstances of the children left behind by Mexico’s brutal drug wars. Movie Review: Room For Rent (2019)

Widow Joyce (Lin Shaye) was left high and dry with her ass in the air after her husband died and left her with nothing except the house they lived in…a house she gets the bright idea to turn into a bed and breakfast joint. This plan seems solid, but Joyce’s personality and quirks manage to piss off each and every guest of her establishment. Enter Bob (Oliver Rayon) a mysterious drifter (do they ever come in any other flavors?), who Joyce quickly becomes absolutely obsessed with…like the psycho-stalker style of obsessed, which goes about as off the rails as you would imagine, especially when a comely ex-guest Joyce has befriended makes the scene… Directed by Tommy Stovall from a screenplay by Stuart Flack, Room For Rent comes off like one of those thrillers you’d find on Lifetime…but is that a bad thing? Kind of. Devoid of mystery and suspense (we know who’s responsible for all of the menace right from
