BBC Unveils “War Of The Worlds” Trailer

The BBC has unleashed the first trailer for its reboot series of the H.G. Wells classic “War of the Worlds“. Rafe Spall and Eleanor Tomlinson star alongside Robert Carlyle and “Sherlock’s” Rupert Graves in “War of the Worlds”, adapted by Peter Harness and directed by Craig Viveiro. The series marks the first adaptation set somewhere other than America. This time the story is set in Edwardian England and centers on George (Spall)and his partner Amy (Tomlinson) as they attempt to start a life together during an alien invasion. Betsan Morris Evans is producing with Damien Timmer, Preethi Mavahalli, Peter Harness, Craig Viveiros, and Tommy Bulfin are executive producing.

Young Donna (Elizabeth Kaitan) finds herself menaced by ghouls… but the whole scenario is in actuality a (as yet unsuccessful) sleep experiment involving the utilization of dreams to predict one’s death run by a college professor (a scene chewing yet still somehow low-key Jack Starrett, who some of you cats n’ creeps may recognize as the director of Cleopatra Jones and the ‘Peter Fonda against vengeful Satanists’ gem Race With the Devil) and four students, of which ol’ Donna is one. In 1959, some naked-ass alien bastards chuck an experiment from their spacecraft which crashes on Earth…where some young lovers, Pam and Johnny believe it is a falling star. As her date investigates, Pam is murdered by an ax-wielding maniac on the loose (that her ex-beau police officer Ray Cameron warned the duo about earlier in the evening). Happy Alien Day! For those not in the know, today is that day we celebrate the release of the first Alien film, and this year it’s special, not just because it’s the 4th annual Alien Day but it’s also the 40th Anniversary of the film’s release back in 1979! Man oh man I love me some Critters…well the first film anyway. To be truthful, I loved the sequel as well, but only ended up seeing it once or twice, and the third and fourth pics? Dr. Miles J. Bennell (Kevin McCarthy) returns to his bucolic town after attending a medical convention to find the citizenry changed in subtle ways, such as a lack of genuine emotion and the fact that some folks claim their relatives are not whom they appear to be. Movie Review: Occupation (2018)

Occupation begins with Reagan’s famous speech about the world’s differences being set aside and all mankind uniting if faced with an alien threat (also a large part of the plot of ’80’s comic book masterpiece Watchmen)…which is put to the test as a disparate band of residents of a small Australian town go about their daily lives until they are faced with just that…an invasion from beyond the stars that begins as they all enjoy a carnival where a football match…game…I don’t know, maybe it even isn’t football…I know jack shit-all about sports, and I’m sure the participants ability to kick a ball in no way foreshadows anything to come as the story plays out.
