‘Halloween Kills’ Is Getting A Same Day Theatrical And Streaming Release

Universal has now announced that Halloween Kills will now be a theatrical day-and-date premiere, meaning that on October 15, 2021, the second installment of David Gordon Green‘s trilogy will open in theaters and arrive on Peacock the same day. The reason for the decision is likely that Universal is concerned about people avoiding theaters due to the ongoing pandemic. The reality is Halloween Kills will also have some competition in theaters with Venom: Let There Be Carnage, No Time to Die, and Dune being released around the same time. Halloween Kills has a huge returning cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Robert Longstreet, and original Halloween actor Charles Cyphers who will be reprising his roles as Sheriff Leigh Brackett. Kyle Richards and Nancy Stephens will also be back. Anthony Michael Hall stars as Tommy Doyle. Green co-wrote the script for the most highly anticipated horror film of 2021 along with Danny McBride and Scott Teems.

Cult Horror ‘Son’ Premiering On Shudder

Writer-director Ivan Kavanagh‘s (Never Grow Old) unique supernatural horror Son is set to stream exclusively on Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller, and the supernatural. Starring Andi Matichak (Halloween franchise, Assimilate), Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), and Luke David Blumm (The King of Staten Island), the film centers on Laura and her eight-year-old son David flee after a mysterious group breaks into her home in an attempt to kidnap David. Soon after the failed kidnapping, David becomes extremely ill, suffering from increasing psychosis and convulsions. Following her maternal instincts, Laura commits unspeakable acts to keep him alive, but soon she must decide how far she is willing to go to save her son. Son, which we called “a bloody good, emotional film,” in our review, debuts on Shudder on July 8, 2021.

Movie Review: Son (2021)

How far would you go to save your child? That’s the question posed in writer-director Ivan Kavanagh’s horror-thriller Son. In the film, a young boy contracts a mysterious illness, experiencing horrific pain and seizures. His mother, Laura (Andi Matichak) must decide how far she will go to protect him from terrifying forces in her past. I can’t imagine how terrified Laura was throughout the film, but I do know how well Andi Matichak played the role. She really put her heart into making Laura feel authentic and the emotional chaos Laura experiences feels real. Laura is a strong character with an interesting and horrific backstory. She’s a character you can both find sympathetic and see her strength. And her character development was nicely done. As for detective Paul, Emile Hirsch had me fleeced up to the last moments of the film. I did not see that twist coming, and I should have and it was a great idea. Hirsch did

Irish/U.SA./U.K./Singapore coproduction Son is a dread-filled supernatural horror film that goes to some surprisingly dark places. It is an early entry for my top 10 favorite horror films of the year. Irish writer/director Ivan Kavanagh’s Son opens with a young woman named Laura (Andi Matichak of the 2018 version of Halloween) being chased down by some men who she manages to escape. She then gives birth — to a baby she proclaims that she doesn’t want — in her escape vehicle. The story then jumps ahead eight years. Laura is now a schoolteacher and the loving mother of her son David (Luke David Blumm). She suffers from PTSD because of her earlier escape from a cult (not a spoiler; this is revealed early on) but has seemingly built a rather happy life for herself and David. Michael Rises From The Flames In New ‘Halloween Kills’ Image

In the new image from Halloween Kills, Michael Myers escapes the inferno that Laurie lit in the final moments of Halloween. Shared by Empire, the image reminds us just how much of a badass Micheal still is and why he is still one of the biggest horror icons ever. We’ve got a treat for fans of David Gordon Green‘s Halloween, a brand new image from the sequel Halloween Kills, which Green has promised will have “twice the thrills and ten times the kills” of 2018’s Halloween.
