‘Get Out’ Director Makes An Incredible Offer To African American Filmmakers

Jordan Peele’s Get Out is still killing it at the box office, bringing in over $113 million for a film whose budget was $5 million. Get Out is not only brilliant, it contains serious social commentary about the state of racism today. We reported earlier this month that Get Out is only the first of a series of genre films Peele has planned with each addressing a different “social demon”. During a recent interview with Digital Spy, Peele made an incredible offer to black filmmakers. For young black horror filmmakers, if you have a script, reach out and I’ll try to help it get made. MonkeyPaw Productions is my production company and we’re really trying to promote untapped voices in genre.” Films with African American writers, directors and protagonist are few and far between, but Peele is aiming to do something about that. It really is a shame we don’t have more diversity in the genre. There are many stories

While comedian-turned-horror writer-director Jordan Peele’s genre hit ‘Get Out‘ is still burning up the box office, he’s already planning his next project. Fans will be happy to learn that ‘Get Out’ is only the beginning. The film is just the first of in series of five films he plans to make to examine what he refers to as “social demons”, according to the interview he had with Business Insider. I have four other social thrillers that I want to unveil in the next decade. The best and scariest monsters in the world are human beings and what are capable of especially when we get together. I’ve been working on these premises about these different social demons, these innately human monsters that are woven into the fabric of how we think and how we interact, and each one of my movies is going to be about a different one of these social demons.” The social statement Peele made with ‘Get Out’

Get To A Theater And See ‘Get Out’ – A SPOILER FREE Review

It is truly rare these days to come across a film that is truly unique. Not just unique, but brilliant. To find a film that also shines a light on a social subject that needs to be explored, to be discussed, is something bigger than just a scary movie. Writer-director Jordan Peele has created a film that is all of those things, ‘Get Out’. And I have no doubt that it is going to be an instant classic. For that reason, I will NOT spoil it for you. Besides being brilliantly written, it has all of the hallmarks of the great genre films before it. It is incredibly creepy. The expressions, movements, and tone were perfectly executed by the cast which includes Daniel Kaluuy and Allison Williams who star in the lead roles, Betty Gabriel (The Purge: Election Year), Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men series), Milton “LilRel” Howery (The Carmichael Show), Marcus Henderson (Pete’s Dragon) and Keith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton).

Writer-Director Jordan Peele Speaks Out About The Social Commentary Of ‘Get Out’

If any genre is the ideal platform to express social commentary, it’s horror. Just think back to films like ‘They Live’ and ‘Night of the Living Dead’. Comedian turned writer-director, Jordan Peele is using his debut film ‘Get Out’ to open lines of communication about issues involving racism. In a new featurette (via Bloody-Disgusting) Peele explains why he made ‘Get Out’ and why the subject needs to be addressed. The film follows Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Williams) who have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy (Catherine Keener) and Dean (Bradley Whitford). At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined. Daniel Kaluuy and Allison Williams star in the lead roles in the ‘Get Out’. Betty

Jordan Peele Announces Lead Roles Cast In His Horror Film ‘Get Out’

We reported back in September that comedian Jordan Peele was switching genres to work in horror. Peele has just announced that the lead role in his horror film ‘Get Out’ have been given to ‘Sicario’ actor Daniel Kaluuy and Allison Williams (Peter Pan Live!). ‘Get Out’ follows a young African American man as he visits his Caucasian girlfriend’s family at their cursed estate. Peele will not only be directing the film, he wrote it as well. The release date for ‘Get Out’ has not been announced at this time, but we should see it released in late 2016. Peele has stated that the film is like something that hasn’t been done in decades, claiming that ‘Get Out’ “… takes on the task of exploring race in America – something that hasn’t really been done withing the genre since Night of the Living Dead 47 years ago.” I’m glad that Peele will be adding diversity to the genre. There are so
