4K-UHD Review: Cat O’ Nine Tails (1971)

Blind crossword puzzle author (is that what people who create those things are even called???) Franco (Karl Malden, proving he walked the streets of Rome before those of San Francisco) is taking a stroll one night with his young niece Lori (Cinzia De Carolis) when he overhears a plan to blackmail a scientist who works at a top secret genetic institute…well, not too top secret if they are blabbing about it right out in the damn street and all…oh, and there’s a robbery in there somewhere as well. ‘Remothered: Tormented Fathers’ Coming To Store shelves This Halloween

The critically acclaimed survival horror game, Remothered: Tormented Fathers which was strictly digital (meaning you can only download the game to your console) will release physical copies this Halloween! Darril Arts and Stormind Games have partnered up with SOEDESCO to publish the retail version of the game that follows Rosemary Reed, whose investigation into the disappearance of a little girl has brought her to the mansion of the reclusive Dr. Felton. Soon Reed’s investigation turns into a cat and mouse game of survival where she must hide from threats within the mansion and uncover the secrets that are housed within. Remothered: Tormented Fathers will be coming to shelves near you this Halloween for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. If Switch players can’t wait for the physical copy fear not! The game will be released digitally for Nintendo Switch July 26th!

Blu-ray Review: The Possessed (1965)

Bernard (Peter Baldwin), a sad sack novelist, decides to use that classic cure-all, namely horniness, and sets off to rekindle a relationship with his ex-lover Tilda (Virna Lisi); who works as a maid at a remote hotel located next to a lake. Everything seems hunky-goddammned-dory with the hotel’s owner, Enrico (Salvo Randone) and his daughter Irma (Valentina Cortese)…but it seems Tilda has pulled a David Copperfield and vanished. Having fuck-all to do, Bernard begins investigating the disappearance and ends up spiraling farther down a rabbit hole of perversion, insanity, and murder! The Possessed, comprised of it’s heavily art house influenced style and dark and deadly themes definitely stands as a strong and stylish fore-runner of the beloved murder heavy giallo genre. Directors Luigi Bazzoni, Franco Rossellini present the material with gobs of style and chiaroscuro visuals, but there are definitely moments where the concentration on aesthetics definitely hamper the clarity of the film’s storytelling (a problem also present in a

Review Of ‘Remothered: Tormented Fathers’ for Xbox One

The cool hardworking folks over at Darril Arts gave me the opportunity to play the Xbox One version of their awesome horror-stealth game ‘Remothered: Tormented Fathers’ in a previous article I spoke of this. The game is out now on PC but will be out on PS4 and Xbox ONE July 25th. It’s been a while since a horror game actually spooked me! I would play the game, take a break from it and partially vow to never play again but the story drew me back in because I wanted to see what happens next! The story takes place in 1970’s Italy and follows a woman named Rosemary Reed who came to the mansion of Dr. Felton to ask about his health while in reality, her true intention is to find out what happened to his daughter Celeste who has gone missing years ago. The Park Full Of Monsters That Inspired ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’

Near central Italy is the town of Bomarzo, a picturesque location in the Italian countryside that would be a fitting backdrop for a romance movie about forbidden love during the Second World War. In the town, there’s a park called Sacro Bosco (Sacred Grove) but it’s become known as Parco dei Mostri (Park of Monsters). As ominous as the name sounds, it’s actually a beautiful park you can spend hours or days in exploring. The park earned its name due to the number of statues that depict creatures carved out of the bedrock amongst the forest. The layout of the park was designed by Pirro Ligorio and the sculptures carved by Simone Moschino in the 16th century. The park was said to have been neglected in the 19th century till artist Salvador Dalí made a short film about the park that sparked interest resulting in a restoration project to cut back the woods that had overgrown the part and opening

Movie Review: Lilith’s Hell is a Devilishly Good Found Footage Flick

Two words for ya: found footage. All right, who’s still with me…hmm, a lot less of you then before that’s for damn sure. Now while the genre definitely is showing signs of fatigue, I for one think there are new and creative (or at the bare bones minimum “entertaining”) things you can do with the formula…let’s see if the maker’s of today’s review Lilith’s Hell managed to work any magic with the ol’ hoary chestnut… Three film makin’ pals traverse the countryside just outside of Rome to arrive at a remote house with the goal of making an artsy fartsy fright flick. After the arrival of Michelle, the lead actress of their piece, and her make-up artist, events begin going supernaturally south with alarming speed, as things begin to go bump (and moan) in the night. “The Antithesis” Finishes FIlming

Francesco Mirabelli’s Italian horror ghost story film “The Antithesis” has finished shooting. Filmed in Italy and shot in a “Giallo” style, the film is officially in post production. Newly released pictures of the film show an inspiration of legendary horror directors such as Fulci, Lynch, Bava, Argento and John Carpenter. There is much anticipation for this upcomming film, but Director Mirabelli sites that he is very please with the results of the 20 days of filming in scenic Italy. The cast and crew include Crisula Stafida, Karolina Cernic, Marina Loi, Germano Martorana, Giuseppe Scaglione, Giulia Ivana Clemente, Nives Gaudioso and Giuseppe Contino star. The Antithesis was directed by Francesco Mirabelli with assistant director Carlo Ciotta and cinematographer Francesco Pensabene.
