Movie Review: ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’

WARNING SPOILERS!!! This weekend I stood in a line that almost completely wrapped around the theater to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. While I danced with excitement (literally) I looked around to see so many different generations of fans waiting to watch the film. It was heartwarming to see parents and kids, and even grandparents there rocking their dino themed gear. Let’s be honest, there are a few things we all expect from the Jurassic franchise, action, drama, and a whole lot of dinosaurs (the best part in my opinion), but the first part of Fallen Kingdom offered something else, heartbreak. As that island went up in smoke, ash, and lava, it took so many creatures with it. As the boat with those few saved sailed away we witnessed what might the most heartbreaking scene I have seen in a film in years, the island and animals being swallowed up. Just before Claire and Owen snuck onto the boat they

‘Fallen Kingdom’ Writer Says It Will Be Very Different From ‘Jurassic World’

One of the biggest films that we are looking forward to in 2018 is director J. A. Bayona and writer/producer Colin Trevorrow’ Jurassic World 2: Fallen Kingdom. While some fans took to social media to express their feelings that the new Fallen Kingdom trailer has an extremely similar feeling to Jurassic World. Trevorrow promises that the sequel may have a similar look, the two are very different stories. He has also mentioned that he still intends for Fallen Kingdom to be part of a trilogy. It looks like it is [similar to The Lost World] because they all go to a fog-covered, scary island with dinosaurs on it, but it goes to a very, very different place than anyone expects,” Trevorrow stated during a recent video interview. “Really the heart and soul of the movie, the turn of the story, is not what we’ve shown in this trailer. It’s very much not like The Lost World.” In the film, “it’s

Original Jurassic Park Cast Member Returning For JURASSIC WORLD 2

It’s always nice when an original cast member returns to franchise even after several sequels have been made. THR is reporting that Jeff Glodblum is returning to the world of dinosaurs. The actor first appeared in 1993’s Jurassic Park as know-it-all mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, then returned in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Now, he’s back to co-star in Jurassic World 2. Blum will join returning actors Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong, who co-starred with Goldblum in the original. “Rexy”, the T-Rex from Jurassic Park, will also be rejoining the cast. Toby Jones, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, and James Cromwell co-star. J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) is in the director’s chair for the mainly practical effects film. Colin Trevorrow, who directed the previous film, wrote the script along with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall, Belén Atienza, and Pat Crowley will produce. A New Dinosaur Is Coming To JURASSIC WORLD 2

Jurassic World 2 is now filming in London. Later filming will follow in Hawaii. Producer Frank Marshall reported via Twitter that the filming has now reached the half way mark. With the announcement, he included a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set (below). At first it simply looks like producers chairs in the image, but if you pay close attention to the background you will see what appears to be at least one new dino that will appear in Jurassic World 2. As for what kind of dinosaur is in the image, the people over at the fan site Jurassic Outpost speculate that is could be a Metriacanthosaurus, one of the species listed on the embryo storage container in Jurassic Park. If you zoom in you will also see a reflection on the glass in the bottom left corner and it appears to be a T-Rex. We reported earlier this month that the original T-Rex, named Rexy by fans, will

Huge Star Returning For JURASSIC WORLD 2 (And I Do Mean Huge)

There are certain movie characters that are hard to forget, even when they are not human. Everyone who has seen 1993’s Jurassic Park remembers the film’s star, no not Sam Neill, though he was fantastic as Grant. I’m talking about a character larger than life, the Tyrannosaurus Rex aka “Rexy”. Let’s face it, she’s a huge star. And she will be returning for Jurassic World 2 to go head to head with a genetically created beast. After being asked about Rexy by a fan, producer Colin Trevorrow confirmed that she will be back. This time taking her orders from director J.A. Bayona. Trevorrow penned the script for part two with his writing partner Derek Connolly. In Jurassic World 2, the adventures at the Jurassic World resort and theme park continue as the government has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes.
