John Carpenter Is Taking Us Back Into ‘The Fog’ For New Sequel

John Carpenter took us into The Fog in 1980. Now, we will be returning. The Master of Horror has announced that a sequel to his ghostly film is currently in the early stages of development, ScreenRant reports. And get this, Carpenter is on board for the film. The Fog is set in a coastal California town, Antonio Bay. We watch as mysterious mist envelopes the town as its residents prepare for a centennial celebration of the town’s founding. But the celebration is cut short as the town is invaded by deadly guests, the spirits of mariners who were killed when their ship went down long ago. Carpenter’s film did not get a lot of love when it was released. The 2005 remake got even less, being disliked by critics and viewers alike. But maybe this time things will go more swimmingly. Legendary Master of Horror John Carpenter along with Sandy King Carpenter, writer, producer, and president of Storm King Production, announced today their partnership with the premium audio entertainment platform Serial Box for exclusive audio and podcast projects. Best known for such cult classics as Halloween, Dark Star, Christine, and The Thing, Carpenter will add audio to his storied career as a film producer, writer, director, actor, composer, and comics creator leveraging Serial Box’s experience creating addictive, immersive audio series. The collaboration will consist of audio stories developed by both companies, produced and recorded by Serial Box, that will live on Serial Box’s platform. John Carpenter Confirms Involvement With New Reboot Of ‘The Thing’

For fans of John Carpenter, we have some exciting news. This Saturday, while the Master of Horror was receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award during the Fantasia Film Festival (full interview below), he confirmed several projects. One of those projects is Blumhouse and Universal’s reboot of The Thing. As previously reported, the new film as well as Carpenter’s 1982 movie, is inspired by acclaimed science fiction author John W. Campbell’s Who Goes There?, about a team of scientists in Antarctica who discover and are terrorized by a monstrous, shape-shifting alien. The new film will also draw from Frozen Hell, a recently unearthed novella that serves as an abridged version of Campbell’s original story. In all, there are already three film versions of the same story, The Thing from Another World (1951), Carpenter’s 1982 film The Thing, and 2011’s The Thing from director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. Blumhouse and Universal’s reboot will be number four. ‘Halloween Kills’ Gets A New Trailer, Release Date, And More Details Revealed

We’ve got good news and bad news for those waiting to see Halloween Kills. Let’s start with the good. First, the first footage has been released. Next, Composer and executive producer John Carpenter, director David Gordan Green, and co-writer Danny McBride have all teased new details of Halloween Kills over the past week. The cut is done. ‘Village Of The Damned’ Coming To TV

In 1957 John Wyndam wrote the novel “The Midwich Cuckoos“. In 1960 (with the titles changed to Village of the Damned) Wolf Rilla made it into a movie. John Carpenter followed suit in 1995 with another movie. Now, in 2020 it has been announced that the iconic story will receive the mini-series treatment, and I couldn’t more thrilled about it! Broadcasting Corporation Sky and David Farr are behind the eight-part mini series that will stay close to the novel-source material. “Wyndham’s 1957 story centers on the sleepy English village of Midwich, where a strange sequence of events culminates in the community’s women falling pregnant with alien children with glowing eyes and otherworldly powers.”

After rescuing the prez from the penal colony of New York city in John Carpenter’s 1981 masterpiece Escape From New York, grizzled anti-hero Snake Plissken (a returning Kurt Russell) finds himself on the opposite end of the nation in the fantastic future year of 2013. Of course shit has truly hit the fan in the West as well, and Snake finds himself on another suicide mission, this time involving the retrieval of a doomsday device stolen by the President’s unhinged daughter, Utopia (A.J. Hidden Gem: ‘The Silence Of The Hams’

While cruising around on YouTube to find some B-movies to watch for a future article, I stumbled, more like tripped over, a film I can’t believe I never heard of and after watching it I watched it again, The Silence of the Hams. The Silence of the Hams is a satirical film released in 1994 that spoofs The Silence of the Lambs and Psycho. The film is directed, written, and stars Italian comedian Ezio Greggio. The film features an impressive cast along with a list of cameos that includes John Carpenter, Mel Brooks, Joe Dante, John Landis, and Ray De Luca. The film follows FBI Agent Joe Dee Fostar (Billy Zane) who needs the help of Dr. Animal Cannibal Pizza (Dom DeLuise) to locate and stop a serial killer.
