Hurricanes And Horror Movies: 3 Flicks That Take Place During Brutal Storms

Having just gone through one of the worst hurricanes Florida has experienced in decades, I got to thinking about some of the best horror films that have taken place during hurricanes. The list is surprisingly short. Hopefully, we’ve seen our last hurricane for the season, but for those of you that want to experience some hurricane-horror from the comfort of your own couch, here’s a short list of flicks that take place during some of the worst storms Mother Nature can throw at us. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer In this sequel to 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, it’s one year after the killing of a crazy hit-and-run victim turned slasher Ben Willis and survivor girl Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) has won a trip to the Bahamas with some of her new college friends. They arrive at a resort that’s operating with a skeleton crew, and apparently, none of them get the weather

New Image Confirms Goldblum’s Return For JURASSIC WORLD 2

Even though Jurassic World 2 won’t be in theaters until next year, it has already claimed a spot as one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2018. We have seen the first promotional image for the film and a behind the scenes image of a new dinosaur. Now, writer Colin Trevorrow has tweeted a new image that confirms Jeff Goldblum‘s return to the film, which we reported back in April. Goldblum will reprising his role as know-it-all mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm whose specialty is in chaos theories. Goldblum starred in Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Production began on Jurassic World 2 in February in London at Pinewood Studios under the direction of J. A. Bayona. While the exact plot is being kept quiet, we have heard that the film will involve Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong) who has used the stole DNA from Jurassic World to create dinosaurs for a military company who plans to

Original Jurassic Park Cast Member Returning For JURASSIC WORLD 2

It’s always nice when an original cast member returns to franchise even after several sequels have been made. THR is reporting that Jeff Glodblum is returning to the world of dinosaurs. Blum will join returning actors Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong, who co-starred with Goldblum in the original. “Rexy”, the T-Rex from Jurassic Park, will also be rejoining the cast. Toby Jones, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, and James Cromwell co-star. J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) is in the director’s chair for the mainly practical effects film. Huge Star Returning For JURASSIC WORLD 2 (And I Do Mean Huge)

There are certain movie characters that are hard to forget, even when they are not human. Everyone who has seen 1993’s Jurassic Park remembers the film’s star, no not Sam Neill, though he was fantastic as Grant. I’m talking about a character larger than life, the Tyrannosaurus Rex aka “Rexy”. Let’s face it, she’s a huge star. And she will be returning for Jurassic World 2 to go head to head with a genetically created beast. After being asked about Rexy by a fan, producer Colin Trevorrow confirmed that she will be back. This time taking her orders from director J.A. Bayona. Trevorrow penned the script for part two with his writing partner Derek Connolly. In Jurassic World 2, the adventures at the Jurassic World resort and theme park continue as the government has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes. We got our first look at trained dinos in battle in Jurassic World and we

Dinos Get Weaponized In Jurassic World 2

Will humanity ever learn not to mess with nature? It’s unlikely, and when it comes to movies, I hope not. The Jurassic Park franchise is a great example of how playing god can get you into trouble. It’s been a year since the we reported that J.A. Bayona would be in the director’s chair for Jurassic World 2. And while we have revealed several pieces of information, but so far there have been little information about the plot, until now. While Universal has not announced anything we did track down a small summary on the site Production Weekly. They are reporting the following synopsis: The adventures at the Jurassic World resort and theme park continue as the government has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes. In the previous film training the dinos for war was brought up, so it’s not that surprising. Weaponizing and altering genetics also proved to be a very bad idea in

Clever Girl’s Top 5 Films of 2015

This year was a fantastic year for film! “Mad Max,” “Jurassic Park,” “Star Wars,” and “The Terminator” all appeared once again on the big screen. Horror fans had an opportunity to enjoy remakes such as “Poltergeist,” and see sequels to “Insidious” as well as “Paranormal Activity.” We had the conclusion to “The Hunger Games” and finally got to see the works of Guillermo del Toro with “Crimson Peak,” and the rebirth of the iconic horror-thriller director M. Night Shyamalan with “The Visit.” Did any these films make my favorite five list? Read on to find out! _________________________________________________ 5.) “Dinosaur 13” Being from Chicago, I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Field Museum regularly. For those who do not know, when you first step into the main hall you are greeted by “Sue,” the worlds most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil. I had no idea that there was a story and a battle behind this impressive fossil. “Dinosaur 13” is an impressive

Todd Douglas Miller’s documentary “Dinosaur 13”

If this past year at the box office has taught us anything, it is that dinosaurs STILL rule the earth! One could say that dinosaurs are Earth’s first REAL monsters…. “Carnosaur,” “Dinosaur Hell,” “Dinosaur Island,” “Dinosaur Lake,” “Extinction,” are just a few of the horror films that come to mind when I think of these prehistoric beasts… and of course there is the “Jurassic Park,” but a new documentary on Netflix shows you the nightmare one paleontologist, Peter Larson, and his team went through after discovering the largest, most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil in history. The film documents the past 25 years of Larson’s life fighting with local land owners and the United States Government. Larson ends up fighting for the fossil’s freedom and his own. The documentary has a great juxtaposition about it, which really helps tell a sad story and makes you feel for not only the paleontologist, but also for the fossil, Sue. Todd Douglas Miller’s “Dinosaur

The Remake The road to the remake is a winding one. There is no clear pathway toward the answer of whether they are good or bad, needed or unwanted. They exist. They will continue to be made because there is demand. My previous article opened with a quote from George Bush’s post 9-11 speech which hinted at “living life” is a series of consuming events that follow an image that has been dictated to us by a media assault that has shaped us since birth. So what does that have to do with filmmaking and entertainment? Does art imitate life or the other way around? Why is Disney the Mecca of family vacations? Who said women are to look a certain way, smoking is glamorous, drinking a soda makes you like Michael Jackson or Beyonce? We have a new generation growing up with incredible access to entertainment. Cell phones, tablets, video game systems and computers allow instant access to everything,
