Yeah, it’s that time of year where that creepy little fecker “The Elf on the Shelf” is everywhere. Movie Review: Krampus Origins (2018)

As World War I rages out of control; a group of doughboys find an ancient book…which gets sent back to the good ol’ U.S. of A. after the soldiers meet their end in battle. The tome ends up in the hands of the commanding officer’s widow…who teaches at a small-town orphanage populated by the kind of dumb ass kids who can’t leave an incredibly evil artifact alone, which has the undesirable side effect of unleashing everyone’s fav Germanic Christmas demon, Krampus, which they must then try and defeat! In theory, Krampus Origins has a hell of a lot going for it. It has an original premise (kids in the early 20th Century taking on a mythical demon from Europe…right fuckin’ on!), some solid performances (especially from genre legend Maria Olsen…though the young leads are rather good as well), and solid set dressing; including period accurate costumes, and a great prop in that aforementioned evil book, which is realized in a

‘Krampus Origins’ Is Coming To Town Just In Time For The Holiday Season

You may leave out cookies and milk for ole Saint Nick, but the last thing you’d want to do is give Krampus a reason to visit. While Santa wants to spoil the good little boys and girls, Krampus has something nasty planned for those who misbehave. Pop! Vinyl Releases Preview Of Krampus Toys

I know, I know, it’s not even the most wonderful time of the year yet (obviously I mean Halloween), but we have to talk about Christmas for just a second. Pop! Vinyl is releasing new Krampus bobble heads! I know for sure that they will be on my wish list. Unfortunately, these are not based on the 2015 movie, but they still look spectacular. If anyone is still unaware of who Krampus is, he is basically the antithesis of Santa. He is a very old tradition, but was virtually lost until recently. Now he is back to terrorize those on the naughty list. Along with the standard brown/grey toy, a red/black chase version will also be available. The latter is a 1-in-6 rarity. It’s been in vogue the past couple of years to address Santa’s counterpart, Krampus. Cartoon appearances, a few movies (one of which was a major motion picture), t-shirts and sweaters, various other media are all filling up with this Christmas Demon. But, where did he come from? Why did he disappear? And why is he back? So, sit back, get cozy on a chair in your new Christmas pajamas, and let’s explore the legend of this anamorphic demon. The origin time period of Krampus is unknown. Like St. Nicholas, he pre-dates Christianity and has been found in Alpine regions, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic, he has stretched all through Europe and around the world. It seems, however, that his origins are in Norse folklore. The daughter of Loki (yup, Thor’s brother) is named Hel and oversees the land of the dead. Krampus Unleashed – Coming To VOD This November

Halloween will soon be gone and Christmas will be on its way. One thing has always upset me about the Christmas season, there was always too few holiday horror films, but that is changing. Last year we had several new movies released that featured Santa or Krampus or both. This year, we will be adding another to the list, ‘Kampus Unleashed’, from writer-director Robert Conway (Krampus: The Reckoning, The Encounter). Amelia Brantley, Bryson Holl, Caroline Lassetter, Taylor Buckley, Tim Sauer, Emily Lynne Aiken, Danil Link and Tori Osborn star in the film. The Scariest Parade On Earth, Austria’s Annual Krampus Parade

With Christmas rapidly approaching and Krampus opening in theaters this weekend, the anti-Santa is everywhere, including Austria’s yearly Krampus parade. At the “Krampuuslauf Graz” parade, known as “The scariest parade on Earth”, hundreds of people dressed in their scariest Krampus themed costumes join to celebrate the legend and scare who they can. The centuries old legend of Krampus has Germanic roots. The beast is St. Nicholas’ other, darker half. His job is to punish naughty children. Krampus, half-demon, half-goat, literally beats the naughty out of bad kids with birch sticks, before dragging them into the underworld. In Norse mythology, Krampus is the spawn of Hel and arrives in town on December 6th. I don’t know about you, but after seeing these terrifying characters, I swear, I’ll be good next year. I would hate to get on Krampus’ list.
