Doppelgängers: Understanding Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’

Jordan Peele’s new horror film “Us” is causing quite a buzz on the internet with the creepy trailer he dropped for horror fans on Christmas. The story revolves around a family being tormented by their look-a-likes or Doppelgängers. The term Doppelgänger is well known to many as meaning your look-a-like. people sharing stories or pictures on social media meeting someone who looks a lot like them and in some cases even dressing the same. Though this is close, the term is relatively new in the English language, around the 18th century actually. The word Doppelgänger is German meaning “Double-goer/walker” and was used to describe paranormal events/encounters with one’s double. Many old stories of Doppelgängers involve people seeing the ghost of someone who is still alive, or the sighting of yourself is an omen. Throughout the world, there are stories or legends of Doppelgänger-like beings used to describe events like in Norse mythology a Vardøger is a spirit double that does

Movie Review: Muse (2017)

Adam (Riley Egan) is kind of shit at being a career artist when he finally finds his muse…like literally; the dude finds the Celtic version of a muse and she’s all magical and shit. So he becomes a great artist thanks to her witchy ways, but it all comes with a price; namely she’s a tad over protective of our hero and turns into a murder machine whenever her place in Adam’s life is threatened. So what is A-man going to do; turn a blind eye to the psychotic episodes and just ride high on his new found fortune n’ glory, or will he end her wicked reign? Not going to lie; Muse is one straight up beautiful motion picture to behold; cinematographer Damian Horan along with writer/director John Burr know how to frame a scene for maximum aesthetic impact, that’s for sure; and that helped the finished fright flick look much more expensive than it actually was. Also of

The VR feature will be free to those who already purchased the game on Steam. The story will still be in third-person but the headset will now act as the camera as well as an aid in controlling Senua’s movements. “Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice” is a dark fantasy game about a young Pict woman named Senua who has come to the land of the “Northmen” to travel to their underworld to rescue the soul of her lover who was sacrificed to Hel, the Northmen’s goddess of the underworld. Raising Awareness: Final Thoughts On ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’

This is a Spoiler Free article! Ninja Theory has released on Xbox One today their hit game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice that received positive reviews when it was on PlayStation 4 and PC. Ninja Theory allowed me to play the Xbox One version early and write a review for it. After finally completing the game, all I can say is the last time I’ve ever played a game that made me sit back and say “Wow…” after completing it was Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 2 back in 2006. The following are my final thoughts on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice a game that’s both haunting and beautiful. It’s no big secret; the storyline’s core is about Senua’s mental health, this would make her relatable to the 1 in 5 American adults who suffer from all ranges of mental illnesses. The developers kept it no secret that Senua suffers from Psychosis, right now you’re probably thinking negatively of her thanks in part

Review Of ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’ On Xbox One

In August of 2017 indie-game developer Ninja Theory released on PlayStation 4 and PC, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The game was so popular on PS4 and PC it earned high praises from both critics and players alike as well as winning nine awards! With this success, Ninja Theory expanded the game’s potential and will release it on Xbox One on April 11th, 2018! I’ve been granted the honor by Ninja Theory to review it before it hit’s selves. All I can say now is you need to get this game! The game is heavily influenced by ancient Celtic culture along with Norse mythology, that’s enough right there to make you throw your wallets at the screen right now. The game revolves not just on the culture and mythology but on our heroine Senua’s mental health, Ninja Theory worked closely with mental health experts to make this part of the experience as real as possible, this is where the game is unique.

Gamers Explore Thai Horror In ‘Home Sweet Home’

Many Gamers love a good horror game, especially when they deal with the supernatural in ways we’re not culturally familiar with. Most foreign horror games many gamers are familiar with come from Japan exposing many to Japanese styles of Ghost Storytelling. A game came out this year in September that’s exposing players to Ghost Storytelling from Thailand in Home Sweet Home, a first-person, stealth-horror game from Thai developer Yggdrazil Group Co. Players take on the role of a man whose wife has been missing resulting in him becoming depressed and distant. He awakes in what appears to be a dorm room where he later encounters the violent spirit of a young woman; he awakens in his home thinking it was a dream, till he looks under the stairs in his home. The game takes players into a Thai horror movie-like experience where they must solve puzzles and use stealth to avoid being attacked by the vengeful spirits of individuals whose

Part 1 of The X-Files Breakdown Seasons 1 – 3

The X-Files centers around two F.B.I. agents, Fox Mulder, the believer, and Dana Scully, the skeptic. The two spent 9 seasons and 2 major motion pictures investigating the strange and unexplained, all while hidden forces worked to impede their efforts. The X-Files was inspired by shows which featured elements of suspense and speculative fiction. The two could not be more different, Mulder, a firm believer in the paranormal searches for the truth hidden in the government all while continuing his search for his abducted sister, Samantha. Scully, spent years studying to be an MD before changing careers and joining the F.B.I. Scully looks at everything from a scientific standpoint and is originally sent to debunk Agents Mulders work. While she agrees with Mulder through much of the series that certain things can not be explained, her and Mulder’s reasonings always differ. The show offered multiple “monster-of-the-week” type episodes which were loosely based off “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “The Twilight Zone,” and

Horror Fuel’s X-Files Recap to Start January 9th

In honor of the X-Files revival, Fox Television had a pretty cool promotion running to honor a show whose pop culture impact has lasted nearly 22 years, “201 Days of the X-Files.” The promotion was done through social media and required fans to watch one episode a day, in order, until the series revival premier on January 24th. The Official X-Files Instagram and Twitter posted screen grabs with the season name and episode number for the day. While Fox was busy promoting the revival with posters, and teasers, some pretty neat fan art arose from the original “201 Days” promotion. Here is one of my favorites, provided by @201xfdoodles, where a fan drew a “doddle” of each episode. Even Agents Mulder and Scully (David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) had some fun engaging with fans and answering questions during certain episodes. __________________________________ Being a long time fan of The X-files, I decided to play along and re-watch the series.
