Watch: A Man’s Childhood Fears Come To Life In The Short Film ‘The Nurturing’

Today, we have a treat for you, the short horror film The Nurturing, directed by Alex DiVinceo who co-wrote the script with Michael Perkins. In the film, “after an injury lands Daniel back in his childhood bedroom under the care of his mother, his adolescent fear returns to haunt him.” The Nurturing stars Anthony Gaudette, Marty Smith, and Hannah Fierman (V/H/S). Despite the pandemic, The Nurturing was able to play some really cool virtual events, including Nightstream,” notes DiVincenzo. “I’m happy to make it available to everyone now, and I hope to get back on the festival circuit in person as soon as it’s safe.” Lockbridge Productions’ previous work includes The Horrors of AutoCorrect (distributed by Eli Roth’s Crypt TV), 48 Hour Film Project winner Root of All Evil, and Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award nominee Be Us. Short Film Review: The Ghost of Weatherton Hall (2021)

Under perpetually dark, and oft times stormy skies, sits Weatherton Hall; the former Gothic abode of a clan of aristocratic misanthropes and know the dread dwelling of paranormal perils that gather in the dark shadows of the walls of the manse. We soon learn of the source of the festering malignancy; one of the lords of the arcane abode (himself a rather vampiric fellow) decides his sister must be put to an end for her cruelty and does the act one winters night via the cruel blade of an axe! Utilizing an impressive array of authentic props, elaborate miniatures, silent film techniques, and puppetry (which will bring to mind the ghostly glory of the old ViewMaster Dracula reels… ans that is a wickedly wonderful thing indeed my cats n’ creeps!); writer/director Mark Dickinson has truly created a bite-sized monsterpiece that is a feast for the eerie eyeballs through and through! George James Fraser’s ‘Scaring Sheri’, Part Of ‘United States Of Horror’ Series, Is Awesome AF

George James Fraser, the director behind Happenstance and Gore Theater is back with his short film Scaring Sheri, the first installment of the upcoming horror collection United States of Horror, featuring a massive fifty films from all over the US. Shot at the world-famous Haunted Overload in Lee, New Hampshire, Scaring Sheri stars Sheri Lee (Doll House) and Johnny J. Gordon who is making his film debut. Scaring Sheri plays out against an absolutely amazing backdrop featuring hundreds of lit pumpkins and monsters making it spooky AF and adding to the tension because you’re on guard not knowing when or where a scare is going to come from. The cinematography for the eight-minute, fifteen-second long film is fantastic. With a rich look, a nice pace, and good effects, watching Scaring Sheri was a pleasure. And the fact that we get a feisty lead character that actually has some fight in her is a major bonus. The soundtrack is pure metal

Review: ‘The Wheel’ Is A Frightening Flick From Masters Of The Genre

While Ferris wheels can be a lot of fun, they can also be frightening as proven in Nikhil Bhagat’s fantastic short horror film The Wheel, set to be released this February. The film finds a woman (Molly Buecher) alone in a big empty house while her husband is on a trip shopping for antiques to sell in their shop. When he sends home an old toy Ferris wheel he has no idea of the terror it will unleash on his wife. The first thing I noticed right off to bat about The Wheel is its fantastic cinematography, rich look, and great camera work, which is top-notch and better than we usually see in short films. The acting from Molly Buecher was great and she really sells her fear which feels authentic. Short Film Review: Day of the Pigs (2020)

A trio of lethal luchadores, El Apache (Tino Zamora), Manny (Manuel Ramirez), and Guero (Art Paul) by name, botch a robbery and find themselves well and truly on the lam. Their numbers soon reduced by one due to misadventure; our deadly duo find themselves in the home of a couple of lovely ladies, Starletta (Sparkle Soojian) and Violet (Nikki Curtis Jones) to be precise, that seem more than accommodating to our protagonists… that is until some supernatural shit hits the fan right quick! Full of grindhouse bravura, bad dudes, strange transformations, and femme fatales; Day of the Pigs does a hell of a lot to satisfy the ol’ terror tooth in it’s brief twelve minute runtime. Fear Crypt Unleash Two New Short Films!

Those delightfully devious devils over at the Fear Crypt Youtube channel have sent a deadly dup of sinister short films my way, and as such yours cruelly is going to give them the ol’ revoltin review treatment! First up we have Fused: Sarah (Sarah McGuire) has one hell of a nasty-ass skin condition, and that shit is spreadin’ faster than the town whore. Needless to say, her doctor (Jennifer Femiano) is baffled, and her paramour Cassie (Katie Rohlfing) is none to pleased by the disappearing act our heroine has pulled since this eerie epidermal nightmare has begun. Speaking of ol’ Cass; Sarah finally lets her in on the fact that she has been havin’ more blackouts than the town drunk (just what kind of town do I live in anyway?!!)… something she’s failed to inform her doc, and when Cassie offers to watch over her during one such unconscious episode she gets an eyeful of more than she bargained for!

Short Film Review: Nova (2020)

Dr. Nova Thorpe (Kelly Kula) is racing against the clock to get a warning out about impending doom related to a top secret experiment she’s involved in… but is said threat already in the room with her? Running a scant eight minutes, Nova, the latest short film from writer/director David McAbee makes a lot of very little; to wit: we have one actress (the aforementioned Kula who does a fantastic job of selling the dire straits she has been tossed into), one room, and some rock solid cinematography (courtesy of David C. Smith). Adding to the overall top-shelf quality of this short is the fact our heroine’s degeneration is captured in nearly one continuous shot (which rumor has it was achieved with the help of a remotely operated robotic arm) and features some great make-up effects created by Chanel Panagiotopoulos. Jamie Bernadette Joins The Cast Of ‘The Elsewhere’

333 Productions has now announced that Jamie Bernadette (I Spit On Your Grave: Deja Vu) has joined the cast of The Elsewhere as well as revealing that the campaign to fund the upcoming short horror slasher film is now live and already at 70% funded. The story centers on Emma, a struggling writer who begins her day by receiving incredible news about her latest story. Upon hearing the incredible news, her sister Sharon throws an impromptu celebration party for her later that night. Soon after arriving, Emma runs into an ex-boyfriend, Brad, who shows up uninvited and reminding her why they are no longer dating. At the height of the party, Emma is approached by a suave film executive, Steven, who appears to have ulterior motives for attending, but before his true intentions are known, their conversation is interrupted by a mysterious young woman named Jasmine. The party lasts well into the night with Emma being the center of attention

Check Out The New Trailer For The Horror Comedy ‘OverKill’

Both the official poster and trailer are here for writer-director-editor Alex Montilla‘s (Hot Tub Time Machine) new horror-comedy short film OverKill. Starring Amy Letcher, Mike Hall, and Will Coffin, the award-winning film is a comedic take on a familiar setup: when too-woke-for-their-own-good college kids are terrorized by an unstoppable masked killer, the final girl must outsmart him to survive. Only in this movie, the killer literally cannot be stopped (or killed). It’s an 80’s slasher movie by way of “Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner” cartoons. OverKill is now making its film festival rounds. And we wouldn’t be surprised if the short ends up getting a feature adaptation in the future, because the trailer is freaking awesome. Check it out! Joaquin Phoenix In Talks To Star In Ari Aster’s ‘Beau Is Afraid’

Ari Aster, the brilliant filmmaker that brought us Hereditary and Midsommar, has been hard at work on developing his next project, described as a four-hour “nightmare comedy.” He has now found his star, Joaquin Phoenix. According to Discussing Film, Pheonix is currently in talks to play the lead role in the film, titled Beau Is Afraid. The feature horror is based on Aster’s 2011 short film Beau, Film Stage reports. The film is being described as a “surrealist horror film set in an alternative present,” with Beau being an, “extremely anxious but pleasant-looking man who has a fraught relationship with his overbearing mother and never knew his father.” When his mother dies, he journey’s back to his home, facing supernatural threats along the way. Phoenix has starred in a long list of fantastic films including 2019’s Joker, 2005’s Walk the Line, Gladiator, Inherent Vice, and You Were Never Really Here.
