‘The First Purge’ Director Drew Inspiration From Real Life

This July we will witness The First Purge, from director Gerard McMurray. Recently he revealed that he found real-life inspiration that underscores the prequel’s theme of government’s abuse of power. Right now we’re living in a time where people are waking up and seeing how things really are and are needing to stand up and voice their opinion,” McMurray stated to Deadline. “As a filmmaker, showing those images and putting it out there gave me a voice to acknowledge what was going on and bring some awareness and spark dialogue about it.” He continued. “We see events that taking place in this country over the last year. I just try to use what was going on in the real world and trying to bring it into the film. I felt like horror films wrestle with the evils of real life, and that was one of the things I wanted to do with this film.”We’re fighting for real injustices [in the

Plot Details And Cast Revealed For “The Purge” TV Series

Fans have been eagerly awaiting news about USA and Syfy’s series adaptation of The Purge. New details have now come to light thanks to creator James DeMonaco’s discussion with EW. Executive producer Jason Blum already revealed that show will open with “an entirely new chapter in America’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness,” one that will “reveal to the fans what happens the other 364 days of the year and how that law affects people.” DeMonaco has clarified that the series is not all set on the night of the annual Purge. I’d say it’s 70, 65 percent Purge Night and then 30 percent flashback,” DeMonaco told EW. “We follow four what-seem-to-be separate storylines of people going out on the evening and experiencing the Purge. The real estate of the 10 hours of the TV allows us to use flashback, where we flashback out of the Purge world, into the regular lives, the non-Purge days, of this future America. We get

James Demonaco Gives An Update on “The Purge 4′ And The Series

After writing and directing the first three film of The Purge franchise James Demonaco now handing over directorial duties to Burning Sands director Gerard McMurray for The Purge 4, EW reports. Don’t worry, Demonaco did pen the script. In a recent interview with Vulture, Demonaco gave up a few details about both the upcoming Purge sequel and the spin-off television series. The film will be set on Staten Island during the first purge. I was wondering how you get people to stay for the first Purge, and what they do is they start monetizing it,” said DeMonaco. “People from Staten Island can easily go to Brooklyn for the evening, so what they do is start promising very decent sums of money for the very poor people in the neighborhood. It becomes a monetization of murder and violence, incentivizing killing and keeping people around for them to be victims. So you see the inception of how grotesque the idea of the

A New Film Is In The Works For THE PURGE Franchise

We recently reported that The Purge franchise is being developed into a television series. Today, we have more news on the film franchise. Have you ever wondered how The Purge began? The fourth film of the franchise will answer that. That’s right, we are getting a Purge prequel. We are going back to the very beginning to learn how the deadly, lawless night began. Franchise creator James DeMonaco had this to say about the prequel: I would actually go back and I would try to talk about how it all started. That seems the natural next chapter in this, is to say, ‘Alright, we’ve done this trilogy. We see how it got to this point of someone trying to end it – this presidential figure. Now let’s go back and see how the fuck all this came about.’ How did this country get to a place where we were now accepting this kind of atrocity, this terrible thing, each year?
