Like a zombie outbreak, AMC’s “Walking Dead” empire shows no signs of slowing. “TWD” spawned “Fear the Walking Dead” in 2015. Then announced a trilogy of feature films following Andrew Lincoln’s exit from the hit series last year. So what’s next? AMC has just announced the franchise’s third series.
The new series will feature two young female protagonists and the first generation to come-of-age in the zombie apocalypse in Virginia. “Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”
The still-untitled series was created by chief content officer Scott M. Gimple and “Walking Dead” writer Matt Negrete who will serve as showrunner.
The 10-episode first season is set to premiere on AMC in 2020.
