Horror fans rejoice! The wait is nearly over. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the dream team behind the iconic 28 Days Later, are reuniting for a long-awaited trilogy sequel, 28 Years Later. With Boyle returning to direct and Garland penning the first film’s script, this promises to be a thrilling return to the infected world.
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), and Ralph Fiennes (The Menu) join the previously announced cast member, Jack O’Connell (Amy Winehouse: Back To Black).
Director Nia DaCosta (Candyman, The Marvels) will helm the new installment. The original film’s star, Cillian Murphy (pictured), will join the project as an executive producer.
The original 28 Days Later (2002) movie captivated audiences with its fast-paced action and chilling exploration of an outbreak that sees a virus spread through the UK. In the 2007 sequel, 28 Weeks Later, the US Army helps secure a small area of London for the survivors to repopulate and start again. However, things don’t go as planned. Whispers of a third installment have haunted fans for years, but the 28 Years Later sequel is finally a reality.
