Director Roland Emmerich has announced via Twitter that ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ has completed filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
‘Resurgence’ is the long awaited sequel to the 1996 blockbuster about a world wide alien invasion. In the sequel the nations of Earth, using the alien’s technology, have built a defense system knowing that one day the aliens would return, but nothing has prepared them for the fight ahead. It’s up to a few brave men and women to fight back and save the world from extinction.
Several on the original movies’ cast are returning for ‘Resurgence’, including Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Sela Ward and Judd Hirsch. Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Joey King, Maika Monroe, Chalotte Gainsbourg, Brent Spiner, Hays Wellford, Ryan Cartwright, Grace Haung and Gbenga Akinnagbe will star along side the original cast.
‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ will invade theaters on June 23, 2016.
