” And So It Begins…” The Nun Enters Production

New Line’s Conjuring franchise is expanding once again. The spinoff to The Conjuring 2, The Nun, is moving forward, with production set to begin this May.
Director Corin Hardy tweeted a photo yesterday with the caption, “And so it begins…”

The film centers on the entity that appears as a nun who stalks Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) in The Conjuring 2. While in the 2016, true-story-inspired, hit features Lorraine battling the nun, the spinoff will come as a prequel, revealing the entity’s backstory.

The Nun will be the fifth film in The Conjuring franchise including: The Conjuring, its spinoff Annabelle, The Conjuring 2, and Annabelle 2 which will arrive in theaters on August 11, 2017 from director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out).

Penned by horror heavy-hitters James Wan (Saw, Insidious, Aquaman) and Gary Dauberman (IT, Annabelle 2), The Nun will open in theaters nationwide on Friday July 13, 2018.
