One of the largest franchise in horror history, the Saw franchise, will soon be releasing its eighth installment in theaters, titled Jigsaw. The first poster arrived today teasing a familiar skull and a new killer.
The duo of Michael and Peter Spierig will be in the director’s chairs for the film penned by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger. The Spierigs are also behind the upcoming genre films Winchester and The Dark Crystal sequel.
Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Callum Keith Rennie, Brittany Allen, Hannah Anderson, Matt Passmore, Josiah Black, Michael Bolsvert, Shaquan Lewis, and James Gomez will co-star in the film guaranteed to be as gruesome as its predecessors. Mark Burg, Gregg Hoffman, and Oren Koules who produced all seven of the previous films will produce Jigsaw as well.
In the film, bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man, John Kramer (Tobin Bell), the man known as Jigsaw. The problem is, Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade.
The line “Become Jigsaw” on the poster hints that the killer is actually one or more of Jigsaw’s apprentices, which he has had several of in the past films. It comes across like someone will assume his identity as the brutal killer who tests just how far his victims will go to live.
Jigsaw will open in theaters nationwide on October 27, 2017 from Lionsgate.
