Sony is continuing to expand the ‘Spider-Man’ universe with another spin-off. Developed under the dark of night, it has come to light that Sony is moving forward with a movie centered on ‘Morbius the Living Vampire’.
The script for the film has officially been submitted to the studio and is ready to enter production. All that they are lacking is the right director, THR reports.
Simply titled Morbius, the script was penned by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who wrote Saban and Lionsgate’s Power Rangers movie. They were also behind God’s of Egypt and Dracula Untold.
‘Morbius the Living Vampire’ made his debut in ‘Spider-Man’ #101, the first issue not written by Marvel co-creator Stan Lee. He was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane.
Morbius, while described as a vampire, is not one in the traditional sense. His thirst for blood is a result of experiments he conducted on himself in an attempt to cure a rare disease, but now he can not live without blood. His bite is often lethal to his victims. But on a positive note, the experiments gave him the power to fly and superhuman strength.
